Andrea Bocelli is the first act confirmed to headline American Express presents BST Hyde Park in 2024.
The classical music legend will top the bill at the London landmark on Friday, July 5, and in doing so, make history as the first-ever classical artist to headline the summer concert series.
The Italian tenor will also be celebrating his 30th anniversary at Hyde Park and said it will be an "unforgettable" experience.
Andrea, 65, said: “In and of itself, it should be a private celebration: a career spanning 30 years, 30 years – a lifetime! – spent on stages around the world, striving to brush with beauty and offer my voice to those who wish to hear it, as part of the soundtrack of their lives. I am delighted to see how today this anniversary has become a celebration for many: a collective way to celebrate three decades of music and excitement, of memories and feelings, that can bloom to life to the notes of a score each time. Hyde Park is the perfect place for coming together to celebrate my 30th anniversary and reimagine it as a springboard propelling us into the future, imbued with positivity and the power of good. Celebrating it here is sure to be unforgettable, in the vast green lung from which London has been drawing breath for hundreds of years, in this park that is the embodiment of a glorious chapter in the history of a nation, of a continent, of a civilization…and also of so much wonderful music that has rung out here, nourishing it in its wake.”
Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents, added: “We have wanted to host Andrea Bocelli in Hyde Park for many years and so it's a great honour for us that we are able to share this special moment with him and his loyal fans. There can be no bigger occasion for all music than experiencing the world's greatest tenor in London's Hyde Park.”
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, November 15, at 10am GMT, via www.bst-hydepark.com.
This year saw the likes of Pink, Guns N’ Roses, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel headline BST.
Meanwhile, Andrea shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. He's currently starring in the John Lewis Christmas advert with his original rock opera, ‘Festa’, soundtracking the iconic festive commercial.
The tenor has also just dropped a special deluxe version of his album ‘A Family Christmas’, featuring his son Matteo and daughter Virginia.
