BUCHAREST, ROMANIA: Former kickboxer turned misogynist influencer Andrew Tate and his younger brother Tristan Tate shared their views on Alexander Volkanovski’s confessions following UFC 294.
The UFC featherweight champion explained why he agreed to the short-notice rematch for the 155-pound belt at his news conference following the fight.

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, Alexander Volkanovski suffered a devastating first-round loss against Islam Makhachev due to a head kick.
He said, “I needed to accept this fight against Islam Makhachev. A lot of people would say it’s for the money and all that, but it was much more than that."
He added, "It’s hard, it really is hard for an athlete. I’d never thought I’d struggle with it. For some reason when I wasn’t fighting or in camp, I’d just do my head in. I needed a fight."
The remarks by the UFC fighter quickly went viral as people were concerned with his mental health.
Among other people, Top G and his brother were quick enough to share their views on the issue.
Tate chimed in with his opinion on why fighters tend to struggle when they don’t have a fight lined up.
Cobra wrote on X, "The reason we fight others is so we don’t fight ourselves. The reason we destroy others is so we don’t destroy ourselves. Someone has to pay. Better them than me.”
Tristan Tate responded to his brother’s post and wrote, “God bless this man. Keep him busy @ufc we love to watch him."
Alexander Volkanovski wants UFC to keep him busy
Alexander Volkanovski was scheduled to defend his featherweight title against Ilia Topuria in January 2024 before agreeing to fight at UFC 294.
In spite of the disheartening defeat to Islam Makhachev, Volkanovski intends to make a comeback in the coming months.
Regarding his desire to continue competing, 'The Great' stated the following in his post-fight in-cage interview.
"I just wanna say to the UFC, please keep me busy. I don't do well when I'm not fighting. I needed to take this fight because I was doing my head in when I'm not fighting. Please keep me busy, I'm happy to go back in January," he said.
For context, Alexander Volkanovski is 13-2 in the UFC, having lost both of his lightweight matches to Islam Makhachev.
'The Great' has persisted in bolstering his claim to be the best featherweight of all time despite his inability to win a two-division UFC title.
