LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a digital cover interview with Esquire, Ashton Kutcher, 45, once opened up about his relationship with Demi Moore and reflected on one of the most harrowing experiences they faced together. The star of 'That '70s Show' spoke about how he felt when his ex-wife Moore experienced a late-term miscarriage.
Prior to their separation in 2011, Kutcher and Moore, who had a 15-year age difference between them, were together for eight years. They started dating in 2003, got married in 2005, and divorced six years later. After finalizing the divorce in 2013, Kutcher married his ex-costar Mila Kunis two years later. Moore is presently dating celebrity chef Daniel Humm.
'Really, really painful'
When asked if he saw the situation differently now than when he was in the relationship with Moore, Kutcher thoughtfully replied, "Losing a kid that you think you're going to have, and that close to thinking you're going to have a kid, is really, really painful. Everyone deals with that in different ways," as per People. At the time, Kutcher was already a step-father to Moore's three daughters—Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 28—she had with her ex-husband Bruce Willis.
Following the incident, the pair faced a variety of difficulties, including Moore's sobriety issues and their desire to expand their family through in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Kutcher continued, "I love kids. I wouldn't have gotten married to a woman that had three kids if I didn't love kids. The idea of having another kid would have been incredible."
Kutcher stated he accepted the outcome despite the suffering it brought, adding, "For whatever reason, I had to have that experience." The 'No Strings Attached' actor added, "I was 26, bearing the responsibility of an 8-year-old, a 10-year-old, and a 12-year-old. That's how some teen parents must experience their twenties."
'Life was clearly unraveling'
In her 2019 memoir 'Inside Out', Moore, 60, discussed miscarrying at six months while dating Kutcher. She named her unborn daughter Chaplin Ray while pregnant, per The New York Times. In the book, she also discussed her emotional state during her divorce from Kutcher. At the time, Moore admitted to a source that "part of my life was clearly unraveling. I had no career. No relationship."
Ashton Kutcher is now a doting dad to Dimitri and Wyatt
Kutcher and his wife Mila Kunis have two children together: Wyatt, 8, and Dimitri, 6. Recently, Kutcher picked up his children from school in Los Angeles while braving a rainy day with them. The 45-year-old actor was seen leaving the school grounds with Wyatt Isabelle and Dimitri Portwood, both looking handsome in a stylish denim ensemble.
