LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bethenny Frankel, 52, who rose to fame through ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ has her philosophy of beauty clear. The Bravo star, who is now known for posting beauty videos and known for filming without filters, has shared recently in an interview that there is nothing that works as well as “a good night’s sleep” and when anyone is hydrated enough.

The ’Skinnygirl’ founder, who has been vocal about toxic beauty standards, also opined that she has no problem being the “dorky aunt” to her daughter’s friends. In her recent interview with The Healthy magazine, while launching her wine brand Forever Young Rose, she fearlessly talked in detail about her beauty ideologies and highlighted the idea of being comfortable in one’s own skin, while accepting and embracing the process of aging wholeheartedly.

She also shared a video on her TikTok wearing a pink monokini that features a deep V-neck that accentuated her curves. The beauty influencer, who often talks in favor of drugstore makeup, accessorized her look with a chunky silver necklace.

'It’s been great to just accept [it]'

When she was asked about the inspiration behind Forever Young, and whether she enjoyed growing older, Frankel gave a lengthy discourse that precisely showcased her philosophy of aging. The chef and ‘Just B with Bethenny Frankel’ podcast host highlighted the presence of “numbers” in life, “What has been hard was just the numbers—that you know the numbers, that you’re aware of the numbers.” She further stated her main inspiration to want to remain young, “I have a daughter and I want to be young for her. It’s been great to just accept [it].”

Profoundly perceptive, she observed, “I see people, women, so desperately clinging on to youth and doing everything they can, and every gimmick and lying about their age and every filter.” Terming aging to be like “fine wine” she further inferred that there is a general antipathy in women towards not embracing the natural process of aging, “It seems there’s a desperation to aging and not allowing it to happen like in fine wine.”

Frankel, however, firmly stated that she doesn’t mind being the “dorky aunt,” as she said, “I like being older because you have to be comfortable in your own skin and you get to be that dorky aunt. That’s who I am to my daughter’s friends. That’s who I am on social media. I’ve embraced it, I get it.”

She has also decided not to compromise on the basic necessities of life that give a person all the happiness in the world, “I like prioritizing sleep and travel and food. I like curating my life the way that I want it to be and only doing work that I want to do that’s very liberating. I’m peaceful. I’m level, I’m happy. The highs and lows are not what they used to be, which is positive.”

Frankel has always made it clear that she prioritizes being comfortable over everything else. Talking about what she hopes her daughter Bryn, 13, learns from her, she said, “To be comfortable in her own skin, not to be trying to compete with other people, not trying to keep up. She’s very free and I love that she never wears something that makes me think she’s trying to be something she’s not. She’s well adjusted and she’s an unbelievable child.”

She has a very clear philosophy about the phrase “anti-aging” too, as she said, “It doesn’t even matter. There’s nothing that anyone can do. The truth is that you never feel better than when you had a good night’s sleep, and when you’re hydrating, and when you’re just calm and rested and settled.”

'The online world we live in is insane'

In September 2022, she gave hands-on proof of how filters can change someone’s appearance. Posting two side-by-side pictures of herself, one with a filter, one without, she wrote, “Hey it’s me, your favorite filtered friend… just making myself look a little better, a little younger, so you think I look better than you. Doesn’t that really build up your self-esteem? I spend hours with tech assistants to make myself look good and you feel bad!”

She further continued, “More hair, less wrinkles, perfectly smooth skin, higher cheekbones, more defined eyebrows, smaller face, bigger lips… when does it end? The online world we live in is insane. It’s so important that we acknowledge what’s happening with the filtering and the photoshopping and the outright lying. What is the message we are all buying into? What are we sharing with our children?”

She concluded jokingly, “Ps. When it’s filtered or I’m glammed up, you will know it! Xo, Swipe to see the difference??.”
