BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Rebecca Matthews was left with one high boob and one low boob after a botched breast augmentation.
Dr Terry Dubrow removed her misplaced implants and implanted new ones before elevating the drooping breast on 'Botched' Season 8, Episode 8.
Rebecca's breasts looked like a "freak show" before her surgery with Dr Dubrow. She felt she'd be stuck with it for the rest of her life. She feels fantastic now that she can enjoy her life without that weight.
She also feels younger and more confident. Anthony, her spouse, agreed that her confidence shone through. She felt 25 again at the age of 49.
Who is Rebecca Matthews on 'Botched' Season 8?
Rebecca has been a victim of domestic abuse for the past 25 years. She was exhausted, battered down, and couldn't take it any longer, so she began the plan to end her life and was literally at peace with her decision.
She maintains she was not a victim, but a survivor, and that if she could survive so many years of pain, she could overcome anything, and thus Glow Girl was created.
Rebecca is now the proprietor of Glow Girl Beauty Bar, Aldergrove's finest self-care and wellness facility, as well as a trained Paramedical Artist and PMU Artist.
Rebecca told the E! cameras, the left side was up a lot higher than the right. Rebecca went from boob lift Becky to butchered Becky. One failed surgery left the Certified Paramedical Artist and PMU Artist from Bakersfield, California, with one breast going north. She was completely embarrassed by "the freak show."
Rebecca had her first child when she was 17, and her second around a year later. Her physique began to change with each child. And by the time she had five children, her breasts had undergone significant stretching. They resembled what she referred to as "sock titties."
She had breast augmentation in 2003, and the results were instantly noticeable. She didn't have any money, so she realized fixing it wasn't an option. Rebecca was ready to live with that.
"My ex used all my insecurities against me," Rebecca told the E! cameras. It put her in a very dark place. She was left with no hope at all. But after 25 years, she left her ex. She decided to tell her best friend the truth. Rebecca's best friend offered to let her stay with her until Rebecca got on her feet.
Rebecca began 3D areola tattooing for cancer patients and women with any form of the condition in order to support herself.
Shortly after that, Rebecca ran into her high school first love, Anthony. "We made eye contact, and we haven't been separated since."
Rebecca's life was going well, except for the one thing that was stopping her from feeling whole: her breasts.
What happened to Rebecca Matthews on 'Botched' Season 8?
Rebecca's condition was labeled "complicated" by Dr Dubrow based only on her photographs and case history, emphasizing the breast predicament that had been worsened not just by plastic surgery but also by severe weight reduction.
He saw that the left side had substantial capsular contracture, whereas the right side had the opposite condition. The right side exhibited bottoming out with tissue weakening, and the breast envelope was entirely loose.
To fill in the 'Botched' doctors, Rebecca recalled how, after having five kids, her breasts were stretched out and deflated, which is when she was advised to have the lift.
The doctors went up to 650 CCs for Rebecca. Even though they looked off from the very beginning, it wasn't until three years later that she noticed her left breast was encapsulated.
Rebecca wasn't sure if her right breast had been injured while she was being physically tortured by her ex-husband. She remained in that terrible relationship for 25 years until leaving to marry Anthony, with whom she has been married for three years.
Rebecca had a gastric sleeve laparoscopically implanted when she reached 284 pounds. That operation went well.
Dr Dubrow called Rebecca to the examination room to see how much natural breast tissue she had. Dr Dubrow noticed that she was under the muscle, and the muscle was quite strong.
On the left, she had a pretty significant capsular contracture, so it was tight with scar tissue. It was almost as though the pocket was too tiny.
He did note, however, that the other side had the opposite problem since it had no scar tissue at all. In reality, it had lost some structural integrity, preventing it from falling into her stomach.
The right breast pocket had to be tightened, while the left pocket had to be loosened.
Rebecca had roughly a centimeter of breast tissue, but 3–4 cm would have been perfect, according to Dr Dubrow. This made things more difficult for Dr Dubrow.
Dr Dubrow began Rebecca's revision breast reconstruction surgery by opening the right breast pocket and removing the implant.
He then performed a capsulectomy and created a wall to shut off Rebecca's pocket, so the new implant wouldn't fall into her armpit.
On the left, he removed her implant through an inframammary crease incision and did a breast lift to correct the excessive skin laxity.
Dr Dubrow finally inserts a fresh implant, hoping Rebecca will have two matching breasts.
Rebecca felt fatigued and a touch sore on her first day of check-in. Dr Dubrow was relieved to observe that the nipples appeared to be alive and that the sides appeared to be tighter than before.
