PHUKET, THAILAND: Brooke Shields celebrated her daughter Rowan Francis Henchy’s 20th birthday while enjoying a trip to Thailand. The actress took to Instagram to share a series of photos with her elder daughter during their relaxing holiday in the Southeast Asian country, where Shields has been vacationing for nearly a week after completing the promotions of her ‘Pretty Baby’ documentary earlier this month.
“Look who came to visit mom,” Shields wrote in her caption. “Best few days with my birthday girl. I still can’t believe she’s 20,” the ‘Blue Lagoon’ star added. In the cover photo from the post, Shield and Rowan could be seen beaming at the edge of the pool at their hotel. Another image showed the mother-daughter duo performing yoga and practicing a sky-reaching pose on a patio deck with a scenic view. One photo showed the pair relaxing on a beach-side table while another shared a glimpse of the duo posing while wearing traditional Thailand garb.

Prior to the latest post, Shields dedicated another heartfelt tribute to Rowan on her actual birthday as she turned 20 years old on May 15. “Happy birthday to my Rowan. 20 years ago today you made me a mama. You're beautiful, smart, kind, brave, and hilarious... you inspire me every single day. I'm so proud of you, baby girl! I love you!!” the actress wrote while sharing several photos with her daughter.
Rowan Francis Henchy wore Brooke Shields’ Golden Globes gown to prom
Shields welcomed her first daughter, Rowan, with screenwriter Chris Henchy on May 15, 2003, after seven rounds of fertility treatments, as per People. Rowan grew up in New York City and shares a very close relationship with her mother. The 20-year-old graduated from high school in June 2021 and even performed a song at her graduation ceremony.
Rowan made news after wearing her mother’s red strapless gown from the 1998 Golden Globe Awards to her senior prom. At the time, Shields took to Instagram to talk about the beautiful moment and wrote, “I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom. Proud mama!”
Rowan has been accompanying Shields at Hollywood events since she was a child and continues to appear by her mother’s side on several red carpets. The mother-daughter duo attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner together in Washington D.C in April 2022 as well as The Hollywood Reporter's Most Powerful People in Media party in N.Y.C., the following month. Shields also appear on several of Rowan’s videos for TikTok and Instagram.
What is Rowan Francis Henchy doing now?
Rowan is currently a student at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She reportedly went to college in August 2021, which Shields described as the “worst thing I've ever experienced in my life,” during an appearance on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan.’ “I'm not ever going to get used to her being gone. She's going to be married with her own children, and I'm still not going to be used to her being gone,” she reiterated during the ‘People’ TV show.
Before leaving for college, Rowan also got matching ladybug tattoos with her mother. Shields got the tattoo to mark Rowan’s graduation and pay homage to the latter’s childhood nickname, “little bug” although she initially wanted her daughter to wait until she was in her 30s to get her first tattoo. Shields revealed she said she got “played” by Rowan when she suggested they get tattoos together. “Anytime that I can spend with them, I beg to do it,” the actress told People.
She also elaborated on her daughter’s life as a college student and said, “She's really living her life, she's enjoying college, she's just really blossoming and growing.” Shields further added,“I listen to the way [my daughters] talk to each other and their friends and the things they're discussing, and you think, ‘Wow, she's really her own person and I've done my best in my job and I'm going to try to get out of her way.’” Rowan is also a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and Fraternity at her university, as per Instagram bio.
