LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Yellowjackets' star Christina Ricci is requesting that James Heerdegen not be granted custody of their son Freddie again because she believes he is still a toxic father who even exposes their child to secondhand smoke. The court documents seen by RadarOnline on Wednesday suggest the actress is ready to fight her case against James at an upcoming hearing.
Last year, reportedly the former couple had settled the bitter divorce with Christina getting most of the custody of their son. Both James and Ricci had agreed not to receive financial support. However, months after the settlement in 2022, 'The Addams Family Values' star moved the court again demanding James be stripped of their son's custody. Ricci allegedly followed the suggestions of her child's therapist given James' behavior.
The bitter divorce and custody battle
James objected to the change and insisted that custody remain the same. He accused Christina of causing "psychological abuse" to their son and that she "bad-mouthed" him in front of their son. James claimed that Ricci even requested an investigation from Child Protective Services. He said that the agency decided not to press charges.
James' overnight visits, however, were ultimately put on hold by the judge until the next hearing. To tackle the issues, both of them consented to have counseling sessions. The latest filing by Christina racks up the unresolved issues stating they remain the same and that she is of the opinion that James' custody not be reinstated, the outlet reported.
James allegedly keeps allowing their son to view R-rated films
In the court filing, she further claims, James had abused her for "years." He also allegedly keeps allowing their son to view R-rated films, quizzes him about her and her life, and smokes cigarettes in the car despite their son being a minor. Besides this, she alleges James has been causing numerous other problems, the outlet reported. She further claimed that James had "resorted to illegally recording" their child in order to use the recordings of his testimony in court.
'He hung out with me while I was on set'
Regarding his assertion that the 'Sleepy Hollow' star made their son work 12-hour days on the 'Yellowjackets' set in Canada. There is no proof to back up his assertion, according to Christina. Their child didn't work in Canada, according to her. “He hung out with me while I was on set and we jokingly said he was my assistant,” Ricci wrote.
