LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck appeared to be in an intense disagreement at times and to be thinking in ways that weren't aligned during their most recent red carpet rendezvous, according to a body language expert. People online have also shared their thoughts in response to the Hollywood power couple's appearance on the red carpet; some have said that the "honeymoon is over", while others have said that it is a "false narrative."
Lopez and Affleck appeared strained at the Los Angeles premiere of Lopez' most recent movie, 'The Mother', on Wednesday, May 10. The couple, who said "I do" in Las Vegas in July of 2022, were seen making frantic gestures to one another before immediately settling into an affectionate posture and being camera-ready. The scene brought back memories of earlier on-camera interactions when Affleck was seen showing a lack of excitement next to Lopez at the Grammy Awards event in February.

What did the body language expert say?
Body language expert, Judi James, contends that Lopez exudes power in their most recent promotional photo, while Affleck's position suggests that he is pleading with his wife after a heated argument. James said, "This red carpet appearance was full of moments of contrasting body language moods from Ben and Jennifer. The photos do seem to suggest a moment of disagreement or non-aligned thinking," according to Daily Mail.
James continued, "Jennifer is upright, confident and commanding as she looks Ben in the eye, points, and apparently directs with her index finger. We can't see her face but there is no apparent rounding or fullness of her cheek to suggest she is performing a mouth smile here."
James added, "Ben's response looks at odds with her state. He seems to have bent his knees to get his head level with hers and his close-quarters eye-contact suggests pleading or questioning. His face looks rather drained and his mouth has fallen open, which can be a signal of disbelief." He said, "The stare has become more intense in the second photo and his brows are raised, again as though he is questioning her. His lower teeth are showing now and he has adopted the pointed finger gesture, again as though he is questioning something she has said. She looks calm here."
'Their smiles after this looked warm'
James stated that even though they shared a kiss on the red carpet in front of the cameras, the gesture can be viewed as false, according to DailyMail. She explained, "Their posing rituals on the red carpet involved all the usual kisses and loving smiles, although these can always be ignored as projected poses rather than spontaneous, intimate moments."
James added, "However the appearance was 'balanced' by the couple's more favorable off-camera interactions. Where we could still see more authentic signs of love and affection between them that will hopefully balance these other poses came with their sweet hand-holding as they walked together."
James said, "There was one very dutiful moment when Ben adopted a security-guard pose, straight on to his wife and with his hands in the fig-leaf pose, while she turned her back on the camera to re-apply her lip gloss. Their smiles after this looked warm, knowing and grateful, providing some emotional balance."
'Quit painting false narratives'
Many people have shared their own reactions on Affleck and Lopez's red carpet appearance on Twitter. One person wrote, "Honeymoon is over." Another who shared a clip from the red carpet appearance wrote, "The way he looks at her and is so in love. Haters are mad." A third person wrote, "Yeah SO TENSE can y'all leave these ppl alone and quit painting false narratives and clickbait headlines. Is that what you call journalism? Beyond pathetic. Those thumbnails are literally them figuring out where to meet up after the red carpet lmao." "Yeeeeaaaahhh... if my husband made that FACE at me, no matter the context... I would backhand him in Adam's apple. Jennifer has got herself one big baby who has fallen off the wagon. I predict the road ahead will not be pretty for them. Anyone agree?" one individual wrote.
