LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The world of 'Jeopardy! Masters' is filled with twists and turns and it seems that the latest episode has become another addition to its tale of unpredictability. Amy Schneider enjoyed a 40-game winning streak on ‘Jeopardy!’ and has now been eliminated from the ongoing Masters' tournament owing to a string of poor performances. At the end of the quarter-finals, Amy failed to register a win and ended her tenure in the competition with a mere five points. She came in at the fifth spot on the leaderboard and failed to make a place in the semi-finals.
‘Jeopardy! Masters' had invited back six-fan favorite contestants to fight for prize money of $500,000, with each of them playing against each other in two sets of three in one-hour-long episodes. Sam Buttrey was at the bottom of the leaderboard after his match with Matt Amodio and Mattea Roach while Amy was pitted against ‘Jeopardy!’ stalwarts Andrew He and James Holzhaeur, the man leading the scoreboard. Even though her defeat was shocking to the fans, it was long time coming owing to Amy’s prior admissions.

Amy kicked off the second week on an underwhelming note as she could only manage a mere $9,600 on her Monday (May 15) night match against Matt and Mattea, finishing at the bottom. “Things are not going my way entirely so far in this tournament so I felt the need to change things up,” said Amy after her horrendous performance.
But it was the ultimate blow against James and Andrew that knocked Amy out once and for all. Host Ken Jennings announced Amy had come in at second place five times straight but never won a match. With no wins to her name, Amy had no choice but to bow out of the Masters’ tournament and make way for the four semi-finalists. However, Ken called Amy "one of the great Jeopardy! talents of all time.” Something that her fans will remember. But a few believed that an entire scheme was plotted against Amy to make her lose.
'They want Matt to win'
Amy was set up against the two most prolific players - Andrew and James. Many contested that she was set up for failure. A few fans took to Reddit and expressed their views. "Oh man, Amy is going against Andrew and James? That…is bad for her,” said one, while another said, “They should have let Amy go first now her game is meaningless.” “If Matt wins Amy is out. It hurts to root against Matt, but damn I want Amy to still have a chance," added another.
Every single one of them wanted Amy to bounce back and win the game. Amy has set the record for being the first transgender person to qualify for the Tournament of Champions with the second-longest winning streak in the show’s history. But for now, she’ll have to watch others make some records.
Amy and Sam’s departure means that Andrew, James, Matt, and Mattea have made it to the semi-finals of the Masters' Tournament. The semi-finals begin next week and will be aired on May 22 and 23, 2023 while the final will take place on May 24, 2023, on ABC and Hulu.
