NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness were a sight to behold on May 1 when they appeared for the 2023’s Met Gala. While ‘The Wolverine’ actor was dressed to kill in a silk-collared black Zegna suit and white shirt, it was his wife who reportedly stole the show.
Furness, who is 13 years older than Jackman, cut a sexy figure in a long black gown by Tom Ford. The 67-year-old actress completed her look by adding a pair of diamond earrings and black heels. Though Furness has often faced criticism for her less than glamorous appearance in pictues with her husband (known for his ripped 'Wolverine' body), their Met Gala appearance really changed that narrative.

‘She looks really stunning’
Commenting below Jackman’s social media photo, a user wrote, “You look great but Deb steals the show!” The second user shared, “Deb and her + 1! Holy moly Deb 🔥🔥🔥.” “🔥you two look amazing!! Hope you have a fabulous time!❤️” the third one said. The fourth user added, “Both of your look amazing! Especially Deb!!”
“They both look great! Deborah-Lee often is scrutinized as she is a little older than Hugh. She looks really stunning in this - looks like she lost weight and her face hair and makeup are fantastic,” a comment read on Facebook. Another comment said, “Wow you go, Debra. Well, who knew you could out for a Wolverine you are looking very foxy as well as beautiful and elegant 😍.”
‘I prefer Deborah the way she used to naturally look’
However, the pair’s recent appearance also sparked plastic surgery rumors for Furness. A person commented, “U look amazing Deb… don’t have any more work done on your face,u will go too far..” The second one noted, “I went to school with Deb, and boy has she changed heaps, grow old gracefully not like plastic.”
The third one said, “I didn’t pick who they were at first. I prefer Deborah the way she used to naturally look.” However, a fan of the two mentioned, “Good on her, she probably wanted to lose weight as she was always herself for years. She looks absolutely beautiful I don’t think she’s had lots of work done. When you lose weight you look so different, especially on your face. Best couple they are still down to earth, love them both.”
‘I love you with all my heart’
Jackman and Furness went to Met Gala just a few weeks after celebrating their wedding anniversary. ‘The Son’ actor posted, “I love you, Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”
The couple got married in 1996 but it did not happen easily since Furness was not sure of her future with the actor. Jackman told Jenny Cooney’s podcast ‘Aussies in Hollywood’ as per PEOPLE, “She kind of [broke up with me], a little bit. Early on, three weeks in. I managed to talk her out of it, thank God. I’m a very indecisive person, Deb really knows this about me. I can count on my hand the number of times in my life anything has felt that clear to me, and when it happens it’s such a relief for me.”
After the wedding, their marriage faced another issue when people questioned Jackman’s sexuality. A tweet from 2017 said, “Hugh Jackman bothers me = closet case who won't come out, despite having long-term boyfriend and sham marriage to beard. He irks me.”
But shutting down the rumors, Furness was quick to shut down rumors. She said, as per Page Six, “Hugh and I don’t pay much heed. It’s kind of tragic that these people have nothing better to do than gossip about people they don’t know.”
