The MrBeast and Jacksepticeye drama explained
The MrBeast and Jacksepticeye drama explained
Two of the biggest names in YouTube have been feuding, with viewers surprised to see there was beef between MrBeast and Jacksepticeye. It comes following the circulation of a clip on social media, which saw Jacksepticeye asked questions about his fellow YouTuber. The footage shows the Irish 33-year-old hooked up to a lie detector, while giving his honest opinions on MrBeast – the biggest name on the video streaming platform. When asked about his content, Jacksepticeye said that MrBeast "ruined YouTube" because he made videos which were all about "views, money, and popularity." TommyInnit also appears in the video, and when he asked if MrBeast ruined YouTube, Jacksepticeye replied: “Yes. Because it became more about views, money, and popularity than it did about having fun. If he had fun doing those videos, they'd be longer. We'd see the fun." The clip quickly went viral, and MrBeast replied to him by taking issue with his comments. "So, I, 'ruined YouTube' because I didn’t buy a mansion and sports cars and instead reinvested my $ into making content/ocused on doing good and inspiring kids to help people?" he wrote on Twitter. "'If he had fun the videos would be longer.' What does that even mean, lol? You think I’d give up every hour of my life for 14 years if I didn’t have fun?” He went on to say: "This clip is insanely disrespectful IMO (in my opinion) and obviously there is so much I could say about his content but I’ll just take the punches and be the bigger man. Sigh." The disagreement understandably raised a lot of eyebrows among fans, but it now looks like the pair have managed to patch things up. They both posted on Twitter, with an exchange that seemed to suggest they’d been chatting privately and were no longer unhappy with each other. MrBeast posted a smiling emoji and said: “We messaged, we’re Gucci now”, followed by a smiling emoji. Jacksepticeye then replied to the message with a cowboy and thumbs-up emoji. Dolly Parton doesn't text because 'it's too much to think about'
Dolly Parton doesn't text because 'it's too much to think about'
Dolly Parton has been in the news recently for multiple reasons. Her new album Rockstar is the number-one in the US - the first number-one album of her career. She also stirred some conservatives over the outfit she wore at the NFL halftime show, which some suggested was inappropriate for her age. But now, she's going viral for sharing that she doesn't text. And honestly, same. Speaking to Drew Barrymore, the country star said "I don't want to talk to everybody that wants to talk to me. I don't text 'cause I don't want to have to answer." "If somebody calls me, I'll answer it if I want to talk to them or I'll call them back when I can," she continued. "Otherwise, I've got too much on to think about than to clutter my mind up with everything else." She clarified that she's "not a stupid person" and that if she really wanted to text she could "learn". "I'd rather just have my fax machine and [they can] call in creative stuff to my crew. I just don't have time to sit with a phone in my face all day." And she might have a point. Psychotherapist Maggie Mulqueen wrote for NBC that texting, although offering us a higher quantity of interaction, actually decreases the quality of relationships. "Texting breeds not just grammar and spelling illiteracy but, more importantly, emotional illiteracy as well," Mulqueen wrote. So maybe we should all try to be a bit more like Dolly Parton. Woody Allen premiere disrupted by topless protestors in Venice
Woody Allen's Coup De Chance premiere at Venice Film Festival was hit with a group of topless protestors, who were eventually led away from the event. The group of around 15 people were captured on video chanting "no rape culture" while standing outside the Palazzo del Cinema venue. Allen's daughter, Dylan, has previously accused him of sexually abusing her when she was a child – claims he denies. The protestors were reportedly from several Italian groups, said to include feminist groups Non Una Di Meno and smaller collectives: Cso Morion, Spina Collective, Squeert Collective and Cso Pedro. It comes after the 87-year-old dismissed cancel culture as "silly" before saying there was "nothing in" the allegations put against him. When asked by an audience in Venice whether he felt that he had been cancelled he said: "I just find that all so silly. I don’t think about it. I don’t know what it means to be cancelled." Allen went on to discuss the MeToo movement, saying: "I think any movement where there’s actual benefit, where it does something positive – let’s say for women – is a good thing." He added: "It’s silly when it’s not really a feminist issue or an issue of unfairness to women. When it’s being too extreme in trying to make it into an issue when, in fact, most people would not regard it as any kind of offensive situation." The director once again denied child abuse allegations put against him. "There was nothing in it," he said. "The fact that it lingers on always makes me think that maybe people like the idea that it lingers on." When asked when he had any contact with Dylan or her brother, Allen said: "No. Always willing to, but no." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
