Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave has given his thoughts on attending the King’s Coronation and it’s not exactly a glowing review. On Saturday 6 May, Cave was among the 2,200 guests invited to attend King Charles III’s coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey. The event was attended by other members of the royal family, politicians, foreign dignitaries, religious figures and celebrities, among others. At the time, Cave defended his decision to attend, saying, “I am not a monarchist, nor am I a royalist, nor am I an ardent republican for that matter,” adding: “I hold an inexplicable emotional attachment to the Royals.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Now, in an interview with Channel 4 News, Cave has opened up about the event with a mixed review of the day. He said: “I went along to the Coronation entirely out of curiosity and found the whole thing to be acutely interesting, to say the least.” Cave continued, saying: “At sometimes I felt extremely bored, other times completely awestruck by the event, extremely moved by the music. Zadok the Priest was, you know, something from outer space. “Kind of amused by what was going on, angered by what was going on. She then acknowledged that her mother had been supportive at the start of her career – “She kind of just let me do whatever” – but things soon turned sour. “When I started to set these boundaries, not giving her money or things like that - it made our relationship a bit more difficult and almost toxic and so it sucks. “I don't have a mum anymore, I don't talk to her, I miss having a mum. I feel like you can't rewind and you can't go back. I don't have that relationship with her anymore. I don't ever think I will and that bums me out. It bums me out a lot.” Mathews said her career had also driven a wedge between her “religious” father and her. “Recently I wanted to go visit him and he said that I can't go visit because his wife - my stepmum - does not want me there,” she said. “I'm not allowed to go visit my dad anymore because my stepmum doesn't like that I do porn.” But, she continued: “When I was like well can we go get coffee or breakfast, he was like 'I don't want to be seen in public with you' and that just f***ing hurt so bad and it sucks.” Wiping back tears, she concluded: “I’ve lost my family, I don't talk to my brothers or my sisters. I think that they all kind of tried to take advantage of me and stuff or they're just like my dad – don't want to be around me.” And yet, despite her reservations about having children, Mathews and her husband Pasha Petkuns became parents to a baby girl in November last year. MrBeast, the most subscribed-to individual on YouTube, has been arrested – sort of. The content creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson and has more than 154m subscribers on the platform, was taken into ‘custody’ by the North Carolina Police Department as part of a payback prank from another influencer. Eric Decker, known online as Airrack, was duped last year when friend and creator Tyler Blanchard pretended he was leaving Airrack’s channel to go and work for Donaldson. And so, naturally, Decker wanted to get even – by having police ‘arrest’ Donaldson following a meeting with Twitter owner Elon Musk at the social media company’s offices in New York. Except, in a truly shocking turn of events, Musk reportedly cancelled the meeting, and when a chance text from Donaldson to Decker saw the influencer ask if he wanted to meet in North Carolina, Airrack managed to sign a contract with local police to prank him there instead. “I mean, technically, I’m five days into chasing Jimmy down, which is where most people in this situation would just give up. “But when Jimmy turned Tyler against me – tried to take my friend from me – I can’t live with myself if I don’t get revenge on this man,” Decker said. He said: “Let me guess, one of my friends put you up to this. “If they were, I don’t know how they’d get their hands on cop cars and… it’s a pretty elaborate prank, if it is.” After being taken to jail, having mugshots taken and placed in a cell with no food or water available, Donaldson was eventually allowed a phone call which saw Decker reveal the whole thing was an elaborate prank.
