Mark Zuckerberg 'agrees' to Elon Musk cage fight
Two tech billionaires appear set to face off after Mark Zuckerberg “agreed” to hold a cage fight with Elon Musk. The Facebook founder and Twitter CEO appeared to make the deal to fight one another in a cage match on Twitter. It came after Musk tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight” with Zuckerberg and received a response. On Instagram, Zuckerberg screenshotted the tweet and posted it with the words, “Send me location”. In response to a tweet about the agreement, Musk appeared to suggest the Vegas Octagon as a potential venue for the fight. In UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), the octagonal cage is where fights take place. They feature walls of metal chain-link fencing covered in black vinyl. The championship is held in Las Vegas. For Musk, who admitted, “I almost never work out, except for picking up my kids & throwing them in the air”, the proposition may be one he lives to regret. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Zuckerberg has trained in the martial art of Brazilian jujitsu for just over a year and it was reported last month that he even won a tournament. The Meta boss has also been seen training with the Professional MMA fighter Khai Wu. Musk joked about the fight: “I have this great move that I call ‘The Walrus’, where I just lie on top of my opponent and do nothing. Unsurprisingly, the tweets about the proposed fight have gone viral as people look forward to the prospect of seeing two tech heavyweights go at one another in the ring. Rick Ross reveals he's been left with seizures after he 'partied hard' and drank lean
American rapper Rick Ross has opened up about his health and lifestyle after suffering a heart attack in 2018, revealing he had to make “big changes”. The 47-year-old rose to fame in 2008 thanks to his smash hit track Hustlin’ and has since come to be known as an influential figure in hip hop. With his wealth, he has accumulated some strange material items, including some pet buffalo and a mansion littered with clothes and shoes. But, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the rapper admitted to being in poor health in past years. When asked about his health, he explained, “I had to make some big changes”, Ross explained: “I still don’t sleep. I’m a partier. I’m gonna be that way till I die. I’ve tried taking things to help, but it’s useless. The medicine that I take now is for seizures and s**t like that. I partied hard.” The rapper said one of his biggest habits was drinking lean – a recreational drug that is made by mixing prescription medicine with a drink – but, it led him to suffering seizures. “When you have a seizure, you wake up six hours later like, ‘Where am I?’ I still don’t want to sleep. I lay down for two or three hours, but then I’ll get up. “Six hours is good for me. An hour is a wonderful nap for me. If I lay down for an hour, I can get up and play a football game,” Ross explained. He added that, while he’s never had diabetes or used the diabetes drug Ozempic to lose weight, he has had to cut out sodas and stop his habit of eating full meals in the middle of the night. The rapper revealed, “One of my worst habits was, I’d be up in the middle of the night eating T-bone steaks and ordering Waffle House. The chef would make some s**t for us at 2 a.m., and we’d want spaghetti, lasagna, and some lamb chops, and some garlic rolls, for no reason. “And that’s what we’re eating in the middle of the night! So, for me to get up to 350 pounds, once I stopped that, I’m fittin’ to chill.” The rapper admitted in a 2017 appearance on Dr. Oz that there was a period in 2011 when he was having back-to-back seizures. He explained, “I went hard,” adding, “It didn't seem as bad to me because the majority of the time I would be putting in work. The other time I would be partying, and the rest of the time it kind of blended. And that went on for years and years and years. I just developed those certain patterns”. No,
No, "Mr Blue Sky" singer Jeff Lynne does not have an account on Bluesky
With Elon Musk’s Twitter suffering yet another catastrophic outage (which has seen the Tesla and SpaceX founder implement temporary limits on how many tweets we can view in a day), users are once again looking for a rival platform to evacuate to. Previously it was the likes of Post and Mastodon - the latter of which Musk hated so much he restricted users from linking to their new accounts on Twitter - but now it’s the turn of Bluesky to get all the hype. Backed by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, the platform claims to offer “an open and decentralised standard for social media” – “decentralised” meaning users don’t have an account under one ‘centralised’ company owned by one particular company, but can instead sign up to individual servers and communities owned and managed by other people. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It's already proven popular, with surreal social media poster Dril and New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez already signed up. In fact, after Twitter’s latest blunder, invite codes to Bluesky became so lucrative and sign-ups became so intense that they had to temporarily pause new registrations (they’ve reopened them now, though, if you fancy a try). And while others are considering whether to jump ship to the rival site, or desperately hunting for the code which will let them in, some Twitter users were reminded of a legendary rock band thanks to the platform’s choice of name: Yep, for a handful of individuals, the hit track from Jeff Lynne and his Electric Light Orchestra (or ELO) came to mind – and it’s perhaps made all the more amusing considering one of “Mr Blue Sky’s” lyrics is the rhetorical question, “where did we go wrong”. If Musk were to ask that question, we’d probably say firing almost half of Twitter’s workforce and therefore making it almost impossible to deal with the demand is part of the problem. And if you were wondering, a few searches on Bluesky appear to suggest that neither Lynne or ELO are on the platform. Indy100 has approached Lynne’s representatives for a statement, but they said the musician was unavailable for comment. Have your say in our news democracy.
