Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier will go head to head this weekend, clashing in a UFC Fight Night main event. The middleweights are both pursuing a second shot at the title, with each man having come up short against Israel Adesanya during the incumbent champion’s first reign. Italian Vettori suffered a points loss to Adesanya in June 2021, three years after losing to the Nigerian-New Zealander by the same means. Then, last July, American Cannonier was similarly outpointed by Adesanya. Vettori has gone 2-1 since his second loss to Adesanya, losing to Robert Whittaker between victories over Paulo Costa and Roman Dolidze. Meanwhile, Cannonier bounced back from his title-fight defeat with a points win against Sean Strickland in December. Here’s all you need to know about this weekend’s card. What time is it? The prelims are set to begin at 12am BST on Sunday 18 June (4pm PT, 6pm CT, 7pm ET on Saturday). The main card is then due to begin at 3am BST on Sunday (7pm PT, 9pm CT, 10pm ET on Saturday). Woody Allen's Coup De Chance premiere at Venice Film Festival was hit with a group of topless protestors, who were eventually led away from the event. The group of around 15 people were captured on video chanting "no rape culture" while standing outside the Palazzo del Cinema venue. Allen's daughter, Dylan, has previously accused him of sexually abusing her when she was a child – claims he denies. The protestors were reportedly from several Italian groups, said to include feminist groups Non Una Di Meno and smaller collectives: Cso Morion, Spina Collective, Squeert Collective and Cso Pedro. It comes after the 87-year-old dismissed cancel culture as "silly" before saying there was "nothing in" the allegations put against him. When asked by an audience in Venice whether he felt that he had been cancelled he said: "I just find that all so silly. I don’t think about it. I don’t know what it means to be cancelled." Allen went on to discuss the MeToo movement, saying: "I think any movement where there’s actual benefit, where it does something positive – let’s say for women – is a good thing." He added: "It’s silly when it’s not really a feminist issue or an issue of unfairness to women. When it’s being too extreme in trying to make it into an issue when, in fact, most people would not regard it as any kind of offensive situation." The director once again denied child abuse allegations put against him. "There was nothing in it," he said. "The fact that it lingers on always makes me think that maybe people like the idea that it lingers on." YouTuber turned MMA fighter Logan Paul has explained why he has done a 180 on his promise of an MMA rematch with Dillon Danis. On Saturday (14 October) at Manchester's AO Arena, Paul and Danis took to the boxing ring in their anticipated fight which was preceded by a violent press conference and a lawsuit made against Danis by Paul’s fiance Nina Agdal for cruel trolling. Paul defeated Danis in the ring but has since gone back on his promise of an MMA rematch, despite agreeing with a handshake. During an episode of his podcast, Impaulsive, Paul was asked if he was going to uphold the promise. He replied: “No, and you know why? I said I would if he gave me his whole purse, which is not gonna happen obviously… Bro, he doesn’t deserve the platform.” “We saw the kind of person he is. I walked into the arena to boos, I left to cheers. No one likes that dirty fight s**t, bro. You came to box, like, respect the sport. Respect me as an opponent.” Paul went on to discuss how Danis had trolled him and his fiance for months before the fight and tried to “ruin someone’s life” before showing a poor performance in the ring. He continued: “Back up your words. Are you a man? You can’t talk that much s**t for three months. You can’t try to ruin someone’s life and then come in there with that kind of performance.” Danis is in the process of appealing his loss to Paul after he was defeated by disqualification following repeated attempts to use illegal MMA moves in the boxing fight.
