Kendall Jenner shares why she's 'scared' to have children
Kendall Jenner, 27, has candidly opened up about her fears about having children. In a recent episode of The Kardashians, the model said that while she loves being an auntie, she's "scared" at the thought of having her own. She went on to make a heartbreaking confession to Scott Disick while talking about her dog Pyro. "I swear he [her dog, Pyro] has really bad separation anxiety," she told Disick, Kourtney Kardashian's ex. "I have anxiety and I think he has anxiety. Maybe I’m the problem, maybe he feels my anxiety? I could be the problem. I’ve been really bad lately. It’s one of the reasons why I’m actually scared to have children." Disick went on to acknowledge that while "it is scary," she "can’t not have kids because of it". Speaking about her mental health, Jenner responded: "The scariest part for me is am I just going to get worse throughout life? Because I feel like it’s worse than ever right now." Jenner then opened up about the first time she experienced anxiety at the age of eight when she told her mother Kris Jenner to take her to the hospital. "I thought there was something physically wrong with me," she said. "At that time people didn’t talk about anxiety the way they do now. I never knew that’s what that was until later in life." This isn't the first time the star has opened up about her anxiety struggles. In an interview with Vogue last year, she explained how she winds down with a cup of tea and reading a book or journaling. She added that 15 minutes of meditation helps "settle my anxiety so I can get a good night’s rest". Jaden and Willow Smith ‘wish some family matters remained private'
The children of Will Smith and Jada Pinket Smith have reportedly suggested that they wish some family matters would remain “private” amid the very public relationship revelations. Jada Pinkett Smith recently published a tell-all memoir, Worthy, that contained some eye-opening information about the state of her relationship with actor Will Smith. In the book, Pinkett Smith revealed that the apparent couple have, in fact, not been together for seven years, but just never got divorced after 20 years of marriage. Speaking to Hoda Kotb on Today, she explained: “I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. “I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.” Now, a source has opened up about what the couple’s children, Jaden and Willow Smith, think about their parents’ relationship being in the spotlight. The source told Entertainment Tonight, they “feel bad” for their dad, claiming: “They know he has been going through a lot lately and this isn’t helping. They wish some of their family’s private matters remained private.” They added that amid the press, Will Smith is “trying to stay busy and has been hanging out with his good friends and his kids”. The source claimed: “He’s trying not to let any outside noise impact him. Will loves Jada and feels like he has always had her back and always will. He has been trying to be supportive, while also taking care of himself.” Despite the revelations made in her book, Will Smith has given Pinkett Smith’s memoir a very moving review. Gen Z are fed up of the sex or romance shown in TV and film
When it comes to sex and romance TV and film, Gen Z has had enough of it, according to new research. The ‘Teens and Screens’ study from UCLA collected responses from 1,500 Zoomers aged between 10-24 who believe there is too much of a focus on romantic relationships - 47.5 per cent to be exact. In fact, over half (51.5 per cent) of those surveyed said that they would like to see more platonic relationships being depicted on screen. Meanwhile, many (39 per cent) would like to see asexual relationships being represented in media. “We know that young people are suffering an epidemic of loneliness and they’re seeking modeling in the art they consume," Dr. Yalda T. Uhls, founder and director of CSS and co-author of the study said. "While some storytellers use sex and romance as a shortcut to character connection, it’s important for Hollywood to recognize that adolescents want stories that reflect the full spectrum of relationships." Uhls also referenced the fact that young people nowadays are having less sex than their parents did at their age. Stephanie Rivas-Lara, CSS youth engagement manager and a first author on the study (and a fellow Zoomer) provided some context as to why her generation are seeking friendship over romance in their entertainment. “As a member of gen Z myself, I wasn’t surprised by some of what we’re seeing this year,” Rivas-Lara told IndieWire. “There has been a wide-ranging discourse among young people about the meaning of community in the aftermath of Covid and the isolation that came with it. She added: "Adolescents are looking to media as a ‘third place’ where they can connect and have a sense of belonging – and with frightening headlines about climate change, pandemics and global destabilization, it makes sense they are gravitating towards what’s most familiar in those spaces.” Meanwhile in the battle between old and new, 56 per cent of respondents said they prefer original content over franchises, remakes or adaptations.
