Comments made by actress Octavia Spencer about Sam Asghari have resurfaced following the announcement he and Britney Spears are divorcing. Spears and Asghari are reportedly separating after 14 months of marriage and it has prompted the internet to remember Spencer’s comment written on Spears’ Instagram post when she first announced their engagement. In September 2021, Spears announced she was engaged to her model and personal trainer boyfriend Ashghari. The news came in the same year Spears was free from her controversial 13-year-long conservatorship. It seems Spencer was already looking out for the singer, as she commented on her Instagram post at the time: “Make him sign a prenup.” After some backlash, Spencer deleted her comment and apologised, explaining: “Y'all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke. “My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I've reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of.” Following their alleged split, Spencer’s comments have resurfaced, with many believing she was in the right. Someone posted a screenshot of the comment and wrote: “THROWBACK! She got dragged for this, but @octaviaspencer is like an Auntie we all need in our lives.” “I hope Britney followed that advice,” replied one person. Spears and Asghari dated for five years prior to their engagement, having met in 2016 on the set of the music video for Spears’ song Slumber Party. The FBI have jumped on the hype around Taylor Swift’s release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) to try and get people to send them tips on federal crimes. On Monday (July 10), the FBI Washington Field tweeted their own version of the Speak Now track list, which included ‘songs’ such as 'Terrorism (FBI’s Version)', 'Public Corruption (FBI’s Version),' and 'Weapons of Mass Destruction (FBI’s Version).' In the caption, they played on songs by Swift such as 'Better than Revenge' and 'Superman', writing: “Justice is better than revenge. You may not be Superman, but you can help the #FBI protect the country.” “If you have information about a federal crime, speak now. Call 1-800-225-5324 or visit http://tips.fbi.gov to submit a tip,” the post reads. Twitter couldn’t believe that the FBI had referenced Taylor Swift, and many shared the tweet in disbelief and found it hilarious: Republican Congressman Mike Johnson responded to the tweet quoting lyrics from Swift’s ‘Should’ve Said No’, mocking the FBI’s decision to tweet. Johnson has previously accused the FBI of abusing its power. This isn’t the first time government officials and politicians have quoted Swift’s work. Commentator Peter Drury is joining Sky Sports to cover the Premier League from next season following Martin Tyler’s departure. Tyler, who had spearheaded Sky’s coverage of the competition since it launched in 1992, is stepping down from his role ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. After Drury’s arrival was confirmed on Sunday, he said in a statement: “I’m massively excited to be joining Sky’s outstanding roster of commentators. “To be working on the best games week in week out with a broadcaster that has told the Premier League story since the very beginning feels like the opportunity of my career and I can’t wait to get started.” Sky Sports director of football Gary Hughes said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Peter Drury to Sky Sports. “Peter’s one of the game’s most poetic commentators and will bring great energy and enthusiasm as well as his award-winning broadcasting experience to our unrivalled coverage of the Premier League.” Drury, who has more than 30 years of experience across TV and radio, has previously worked for the BBC, ITV, Premier League Productions and BT Sport. He has been named Football Supporters’ Association Commentator of the Year for three of the last four seasons, and won the Sports Journalists’ Association Sports Commentator of the Year award in 2020.
