Tom Cruise didn't know porn was on the internet until Seth Rogen told him
Actor Tom Cruise didn’t know there was pornography on the internet until Seth Rogen told him and people’s minds are blown. As the star of the Mission Impossible movie franchise, it would seem Cruise’s time is far too preoccupied to use the internet as he was allegedly completely oblivious to the fact adult films exist there. The stunning revelation was made by fellow actor Rogen who said in an interview that he introduced his co-star to internet porn. In an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Rogen explained: “He [Cruise] didn't know internet pornography existed.” Rogen explained he discovered it when he visited Cruise while filming the 2007 film Knocked Up. As they hung out, the topic of internet porn came up in conversation and Rogen was surprised by Cruise’s lack of knowledge. He said: “I think it just came up organically, like how it does you know. And then ‘oh my friends were looking at internet porn’, and he was like ‘whoa whoa whoa, what’?” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Meyers questioned Rogen as to whether Cruise might have been joking, but according to the actor, his reaction was completely serious. Rogen explained: “I 100 per cent believed he had no idea that there was pornography on the World Wide Web. Which, the first thing I knew about the World Wide Web was that there was pornography on it. That's the only reason I know it exists!” And it wasn’t the only eye-opening tidbit Rogen revealed. He also explained that the first time he ever met Cruise, he was bursting for the toilet, but didn’t want to ask him if he could use his bathroom. He said: “The first time I met him I had to pee so badly as we were pulling into his house. I was so uncomfortable, I didn't want the first thing to be ‘Hi I'm Seth Rogan nice to meet you, I have to pee, can I pee in your house?’ “Halfway up the driveway I got a Snapple bottle and I peed in the bottle. Looking back there's no way he does not have cameras covering that driveway.” Have your say in our news democracy. Who is Mia Khalifa? Ex-adult star facing backlash over Israel tweet
Mia Khalifa has been one of the most vocal supporters of Palestine throughout the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. Khalifa, one of the most famous former porn stars, has been using her large following on social media to share messages of support towards Palestine and criticise the Israeli government. Who is Mia Khalifa? Born in Lebanon, Khalifa and her family moved to the United States in 2001. In numerous interviews Khalifa has shared her struggles of racism that she faced, especially during school, that only heightened after 9/11. Despite only working as an adult film star for three months, she became the most-searched-for adult actress on sites such as PornHub and xHamster from 2016 to 2018. Her popularity occurred after she appeared in an adult film scene wearing a hijab, resulting in a range of criticism, and even death threats, as well as her parents publicly disowning her. Since leaving the industry she has been critical of it, claiming to have only made $1,000 per scene - $12,000 in total - despite her videos generate millions of dollars. Khalifa also has no ownership over the videos and images that exist of her online, despite her wishes to have such content removed, referring to that time of her life as a "lapse of judgement". "What I can take away from this is protecting other women and being a cautionary tale," Khalifa told Yahoo Life in 2021. Since leaving the adult film industry she has pivoted into content creation, regularly posting on platforms such as Instagram. Khalifa has also entered the world of sports commentary, previously hosting shows such as Sportsball and Out of Bounds. What has she said on the Israel-Palestine conflict? Khalifa was recently fired by the company Red Light Holland after tweeting "Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine to flip their phones and film horizontal." "I'd say supporting Palestine has lost me business opportunities, but I'm more angry at myself for not checking whether or not I was entering into business with Zionists. My bad." Khalifa tweeted in response to her being fired by the company." Khalifa has also been sharing posts on her X/Twitter profile such as: "rooting for everyone resisting oppression", as well as another post writing "Hamas ≠ [not equal to] Palestine" and "Jewish people ≠ Israeli government". She later returned to social media to clarify her comments, adding: "I just want to make it clear that this statement in no way shape or form is [inciting] spread of violence, I specifically said freedom fighters because that's what the Palestinian citizens are... fighting for freedom every day." There have since been claims on social media that Pornhub stepped in and started donating her video profits to Israel aid funds since her comments - rumours which were shut down by the company after indy100 reached out for comment. 'Female Andrew Tate' gives the most toxic support to Russell Brand yet
It’s a sad inevitability that the big names defending Russell Brand are some of the most influential in the world. Elon Musk and Andrew Tate – two of the most Googled people on the planet – have already publicly backed the 48-year-old comedian, as have those great champions of right-wing and conservative conspiracy theories: Alex Jones, Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson. And so it comes as no surprise that Pearl Davis, the woman who proudly owns the nickname “the female Andrew Tate”, is the latest red pill ideologist to throw her support behind Brand, who vehemently denies all the allegations made against him. In a YouTube video shared with her 1.8 million YouTube subscribers, Davis announced that “the Matrix is coming after him” and that he is the victim of a “mainstream media” witchhunt. And whilst many of us simply roll our eyes at such warcries from the internet’s self-styled “anti-establishment” fighters, Davis’s arguments in support of Brand should be a genuine cause of concern. She asks in her monologue: “Why would a man that is rich and famous need to rape anybody? [...] Why would a guy need to assault or rape anybody in order to get sex that's having it thrown at him 24/7?” Then, offering an analogy to hit home her point, she adds: “This is the equivalent of me being a billionaire and getting accused of robbing a bank.” Russell Brand Is Being Attacked... www.youtube.com Now, you may gape in horror and disbelief at such base and ignorant “reasoning”, this same logic is applied again and again, getting countless alledged predators off the hook. Indeed, Safe Horizon – the largest victim assistance charity in the US – addressed the issue in a poignant piece back in 2018 titled ‘Why Does the Myth That Attractive Men ‘Don't Have to Rape’ Persist?’ In the first-hand account, writer Jeena Sharma explains that her earliest memory of suffering sexual assault was at the hands of her piano teacher, who was “seemingly handsome, smart and kind, with a daughter of his own”. She said she never told her parents, “not because they wouldn’t care but because [she] felt ashamed and mostly confused”. After all, “how could this man [...] do something that I would only expect from a creepy stranger in an alley?” Sharma went on to cite the example of former NFL player Darren Sharper, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison and accused of drugging and raping as many as 16 women back in 2016. She pointed out that at the time, the judge sentencing Sharper expressed her disbelief at his crimes, saying she couldn’t understand how someone who was college-educated and had grown up “in one of the most loving households” could carry out such atrocities. Russell Brand has strongly denied the accusations against him. Rape Crisis offers support for those affected by rape and sexual abuse.
