The film ‘Dream Moms’ centers around the hardships of mothers who are surrounded with motherhood and struggles to chase their unfulfilled dreams. The movie portrays two mothers, Danielle and Claire, whose only responsibilities and happiness lies with their families. But when they enter a national television contest as a singer (Danielle) and dancer (Claire), their life takes an unexpected turn as they discover it’s never too late to follow their dreams.
Danielle and Claire's Passion
Danielle was a one-time off-Broadway performer and a backup singer before she became a mother. She’s married to a successful lawyer, Mark, and has a daughter who is an excellent ballerina. On the other hand, Claire was an aspiring dancer and is now a single mom raising two kids on her own. Claire struggles to keep up with her family financially. Danielle and Claire’s life is consumed with motherhood, and everything they do is for their family.
To do something for themselves, Danielle starts taking classes at a dance studio owned by her brother, RJ. While Danielle and Claire were chasing their dreams within the walls of RJ’s studio, an idea clicked in his mind. He was impressed by the passion and willingness of both mothers and wanted to bring them together on a stage. He convinced both of them and as they started practicing to perform in a nationally televised talent contest, their family obligations and priorities questioned them to reconsider their decision.
Why did Danielle decide not to perform at Nationals at first?
After Danielle and Claire were selected to perform at the nationals during their audition, Danielle was heartbroken after hearing the contest date. It was the same as her daughter Sandra’s ballerina showcase, and her family was more important to her than her dreams. Initially, she was afraid of telling Claire that she won’t be performing at finals with her, so she talked to Mark. Although Mark was a sweet and caring husband, he made Danielle believe that family was above her dreams. So, she decided not to perform and be there at Sandra’s showcase. Fortunately, the unexpected turns in the film push her to change her decision and run after her dreams.
