Mia McKenna-Bruce found it easy to identify with her character in 'How to Have Sex'.
The 26-year-old actress features as Tara – a teenager desperate to lose her virginity on a party holiday in Crete – in Molly Manning Walker's new film and found it straightforward to relate to the emotions of her alter ego.
Mia told HeyUGuys.com: "Getting to play Tara was like getting to explore a part of myself, especially as a teenager because you go through so many emotions of trying to figure out who you are.
"I felt I could relate to it on a personal level. She is bubbly on the surface and can talk her way out of anything but actually she has so many layers to her, which as an actor is super exciting to play."
The movie was shot in location in Malia and Walker explained the challenges of shooting the picture amongst holidaymakers.
The director said: "It was quite tough. We shot all of the party scenes in the first two weeks because we didn't want to lose people off the island because it was becoming November, it was cold, we had to cast all of the extras."
In the film, Tara regrets having drunken sex with one of the boys staying next door and Walker wanted to come up with a serious take on the risks of teenage holidays.
The 30-year-old filmmaker said: "It was a reaction to those comedy films and trying to make something that's not hypersexualised and that actually had grounding in reality from a female perspective."
