It’s been over two decades since 'Gilmore Girls' first premiered on October 5, 2000. The series, which went on for seven years, followed the story of the iconic single mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. It also starred actors Melissa McCarthy, Scott Patterson, Keiko Agena, Jared Padalecki, Liza Weil, Matt Czuchry, and Milo Ventimiglia.
Years after the show came to an end, the cast returned for a four-part Netflix revival series ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ in 2016. Commenting on whether fans could expect more, Amy Sherman-Palladino told US Weekly in January 2018, "I think [we would do more] if the time is right and everybody is in the mood — because that’s how it happened before. We all sort of saw each other at a festival and kind of went, ‘Hey! No one hates each other.’ And decided to do it. [It] could happen again — absolutely.”

While executive producer Daniel Palladino said, “It really depends on when we attack the story. Coming back eight or nine years after the original series for the four movies we did — it dictates partly what the story is going to be. And the death of Ed Herrmann [who played Richard Gilmore] was unfortunately one of the things that changed for the cast so it changed what the characters were going through. It really just depends on when we do it. We can do it a year from now, two years, five years, 10 years. It would be different.”
'Happy 21st anniversary to these two lovebirds'
Now, a scene that saw Rory, who was left surprised to see Jess Mariano, played by Milo Ventimiglia, returned to town and made her impulsively kiss him before she ran away is making fans nostalgic. The video of the scene, posted by the handle @thinkergilmore on Twitter, saw fans writing, "Still obsessing over that iconic first kiss! Jess and Rory set the bar sky high for all future TV couples. Happy 21st anniversary to these two lovebirds!" Another wrote, "I find it so incredibly hard to believe this was 21 years ago." One more commented, "21 years ago??? Oh my gosh I didn’t realize that this clip is almost as old as me."
'This is really the scene of all time'
Many fans continued to pour their heart out. One wrote, "This is really the scene of all time," while another commented, "Still swooning over that magical moment! Jess and Rory will forever have a special place in our hearts." On the other hand, many said they need to "rewatch this show ASAP!" Rory and Jess kiss at the end of Season 2, starting off their romance.
