LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: TV host Stephen Colbert didn’t hold back in his sharp criticism of Representative Jim Jordan, who has yet again failed to secure the position of Speaker of the House, in a recent installment of his late-night program that aired on Monday, October 23.
Colbert, who returned to 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert', following a fight with COVID-19, did not hold back while attacking Jordan. He called attention to the Congressman's recurrent shortcomings, highlighting his third unsuccessful attempt to clinch the position of speaker of the US House of Representatives. The host called him the "speaker of the nothing."
Stephen Colbert delivers a biting takedown of Jim Jordan
Stephen Colbert claimed in his late-night show that the reason he is feeling better is "mostly because Jim Jordan will not be speaker of the House."
The Ohio Republican was compelled to drop out of the contest after he lost three votes on the House floor last week.
"This is a historic humiliation for a man who will not be in the history books," Colbert mentioned, branding Jordon as "speaker of the nothing." The rep's candidacy was sunk by GOP moderates just days after one of his backers reportedly predicted that "moderates always cave. A tale as old as time."
"That, of course, is a Disney reference, though I think Jordan prefers that song from 'Encanto', 'We Don’t Talk About What Happened at Ohio State,'" Colbert joked, before asking his listeners to "Google it."
