Internet skewers Jada Pinkett Smith for saying Will Smith's Oscars slap to Chris Rock 'wasn't about me'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In another mind-baffling interview with entrepreneur-podcaster Steven Bartlett, Jada Pinkett Smith has said she wasn't the reason behind Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards.

Will stormed on stage at the 2022 Oscars and smacked Chris after the comedian made a 'GI Jane 2' joke about Jada due to her bald head, though she had already revealed that she had alopecia.

Jada claimed in an interview with Bartlett for 'The Diary Of A CEO' podcast that she had nothing to do with the incident. However, viewers immediately accused Jada of signaling Will by rolling her eyes at Chris' joke.

The 52-year-old 'Matrix' star, who disclosed last week that she and Will, 55, quietly separated 7 years ago but are now "working" on their marriage, reflected on the uncomfortable moment in an interview with Bartlett on Monday, October 16.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith had different 'love languages'

Speaking on the Bartlett podcast, Jada laughed at the theories and said, "I didn't think that he actually made contact with Chris, it looked like he ducked it. Even if it was it was [a signal] I can't force Will to do anything!"

"I knew I was going to get blamed but I didn't think that it was going to be... I mean it was insane but I knew it was going to be a storm," she continued.

When asked if she considered Will's actions to be "an act of love," Jada, who was apart from Will at the time of the slap, said: "It's a really complicated moment it's a really complex moment."

She added: "I would say yes and no. I definitely think [it was] in his way but it was so much more. It wasn't about me, that's why it's complex. It was about a lot more than that moment, a lot more than just me."

Regarding their separation, Jada acknowledged she had "resented" Will at the time because she had felt like she had been "thrown to the curb," per Daily Mail.

Addressing their split, she said that their issues were caused by the fact that they communicated different "love languages" and that Jada thought she would be happier with Will than with herself.

Will's love language, Jada explained, was "I want to work. I want to work hard so that you can have everything in the world that you'd ever want. You're not going to need for anything."

"My love language was 'I just want you to be here with me. I don't need all of that stuff, I want to look in your eyes and feel your love and feel your protection here with me.' It was like that connection I wanted to feel," Jada continued.

Jada said that she struggled to understand why she wasn't content and shared that after she and Will split up, he advised her to "make herself happy."

Jada Pinkett Smith asserts Oscars slap motivated her to recommit to marriage with Will Smith

Fans were further perplexed when Jada revealed that Will's slapping of Chris at the 2022 Academy Awards had strengthened her devotion to him.

In another conversation with Vanity Fair on Monday, October 16, Jada stated: "When I was sitting at the Oscars, it clicked in. As soon as I was like, 'Oh snap, you hit Chris?'"

Jada continued her monologue: "I was like, I'm riding with you. I didn't come into this place as your wife, but I'm leaving here as your wife because we got a storm we're going to have to deal with together. I am not gonna leave your side."

Jada revealed the new information during an in-person interview she had at the Perelman Performing Arts Center in New York City with CAA and Vanity Fair.

Following the smack, the actress claimed she and Will engaged in "really deep work together."

Further, she talked about their seven-year separation, claiming that they had been "exhausted" in 2016 after "pulling at each other" and "power struggles," and that she had to "learn how to love myself" before she could "identify what love looked like coming from somebody else."

The actress has been actively releasing shocking information while on the road promoting her upcoming memoir, 'Worthy,' which will be released on Tuesday, October 17.

Internet trolls Jada and asks her to 'take some responsibility'

Following Jada's bombshell revelations, internet users were not leaving any stone unturned to troll the actress.

One social media user commented, "It was more about he missed a call from the car warranty department about the coming up expiration date of the current warranty."

A second user quipped, "It was about Tupac Shakur."

A third social media user noted, "Yeah right, Will was laughing until he saw her reaction and then his demeanor changed."

"The SLAP was not about you, but it's about the way you ROLLED YOUR EYES AND LOOKED AT WILL that made him leave his seat and SLAP Chris. I guess Will has not gotten over your ENTANGLEMENT ISSUE YET," said a fourth user.

Another one mocked, "She is probably right, Will probably actually wanted to slap her, but took it out on Chris Rock..."

"She's kidding right? Take some responsibility," said another one.

"2 pac would have given her a real entanglement!!!!" joked another one.

One user snarked, "I believe her, they are married, but she not is wife," while another exclaimed, "REALLY?? I thought EVERYTHING was about HER!!"

"Which part of "keep my wife's name out of your mouth" she doesn't understand?" questioned another user.
