LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Walking Dead' actor Erik Jensen has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
His family has set up a fundraiser to help him make through the illness as they revealed on the GoFundMe page that he is determined to stay positive.
Erik Jensen survived a brain aneurysm in 2022
In the GoFundMe posted on October 21, his family revealed, "After miraculously surviving a brain aneurysm just a year-and-a-half ago, our beloved Erik Jensen was just diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer."
"As many of you know, Erik is a deeply devoted father to 13-year-old Sadie who's the light of his life; an incredible husband to Jessica, his partner in art and life for the last 23 years; and a profoundly hardworking, generous artist who has spent decades committed to creating work in service of healing, justice, and making the world a better place," the post read.
The family described the 53-year-old actor as one of the most "loving, truthful and devoted people" who wishes to be there for his 13-year-old daughter Sadie as she grows up.
Erik Jensen's cancer metastasized to his liver
Jensen's cancer metastasized to his liver and the post shared that the actor who is known for his roles in 'Mr Robot' and 'Mindhunter' is "young and strong."
Throughout his chemotherapy treatments, he has been working full-time as a writer and a director and is also editing a film, OK Magazine reports.
According to his family, amid his cancer diagnosis, aneurysm, and both the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, they are currently in an "extremely precarious financial position" that led them to set up GoFundMe.
Despite the heartbreaking news, Erik's loved ones stated that his cancer diagnosis is not a "death sentence" and that the actor is "working incredibly hard to stay positive and fight for the shot that his doctor says he has."
"The family would greatly appreciate communications of success stories, positivity, and hope," the fundraiser post concluded.
