CLEVELAND, OHIO: Jake Paul followed in his brother Logan Paul's footsteps and embarked on an adventurous career in boxing. But as he consistently engaged in fights, he soon outgrew his sibling and grew to enjoy the sport.
Jake still draws a lot of flak for his opponent selection. That makes sense given that most of his opponents have been former mixed martial artists (MMA) competitors like Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Ben Askren.
He faced off with Tommy Fury, a British professional boxer, earlier this year. It's interesting that he was ready to take on KSI next. But the combat never happened, and KSI had to battle Fury in the end.
Given that Fury defeated both adversaries, many supporters think Paul and KSI will eventually square off to see who is superior. But Paul's latest claim disproves every one of these arguments.
Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury potential rematch
With a focus on his "respect" for Tommy Fury, Jake Paul has shown interest in a possible rematch. He made it clear, though, that fighting KSI is not what he wants to do.
Though Paul is now preparing for a fight with professional boxer Andre August on December 15, he is still willing to face Fury again after their February fight, in which Fury prevailed by split decision.
Recognizing the shocking aspect of their initial encounter, in which Paul knocked Fury out cold, he thinks there is "unsettled tension" between them.
Their connection has developed despite their initial hostile rivalry characterized by insults. This is because of the technical nature of their fight.
“He won but I knocked him down so it kind of was this, “I see you, you see me” type of thing. There’s definitely still unsettled tension there, figuring out who the better man is,” Paul said.
Paul chastised KSI for their dismal effort, even though Fury just declared a contentious unanimous decision victory against the Korean fighter.
Furthermore, he said that his priorities right now don't include going after a fight with him.
Paul says he's ready for whatever obstacles ahead and is still committed to his goal of becoming a world champion.
On the other hand, his brother gave him some sage counsel on the opponent he would face next.
Logan Paul's take on Jake Paul vs Andre August
Fans are upset over Jake Paul's opponent selection, Andre August, for his December 15 return in Orlando, Florida.
The criticism raises doubts since it implies Jake chose a less well-known and inactive opponent.
Logan Paul expressed concern about the possible impact of a defeat to August on Jake's nascent boxing career.
Logan stressed the importance of winning on his IMPAULSIVE podcast, considering the danger to Jake's record and future goals.
Logan gave an explanation of Jake's reasoning for choosing August.
"To enhance his resume. He intends to provide fans with a unique experience and establish himself as a legitimate boxer," he said.
Logan, nevertheless, advised against the negative perception that may arise if Jake loses against a less well-known opponent.
The danger of jeopardizing Jake's attempts to establish an enduring legacy in boxing is the source of the worry.
