CLEVELAND, OHIO: Logan Paul, a YouTuber who is now a WWE superstar, has responded to concerns that Prime Energy may be marketed to children. He advised parents to "be smart" about what they let their children eat.
When Logan Paul and KSI teamed up to launch their own beverage brand, Prime Hydration, in early 2022, they stunned the Internet. The two quickly ventured into energy drinks and even flavor packs. As of November 2023, Prime has grown into a vast beverage empire with sales of over one billion bottles.
Logan Paul reacts to Prime Energy drink health concerns
Some experts have claimed that Prime Energy drink is unsafe for children because of its high caffeine content, but it is being marketed to children. Logan Paul discussed these claimes in an interview with ABC News' Eva Pilgrim on November 10. Based on his Instagram statistics, the YouTuber claims that most of his followers are in fact older than 18.
“That’s such a heavy claim. But I want to dive into it. You know, we are a social media-first company. The good thing about social media is there’s data, right? There’s analytics. 90% of my audience is above the age of 18. 93% of Prime’s audience is above the age of 18, according to Instagram’s analytics," Logan Paul said.
He continued by telling parents to "be smart" about what they're letting their children eat. He reminded them that anyone under the age of 18 shouldn't normally be exposed to caffeine.
"Caffeine consumption isn’t recommended for kids or anyone under the age of 18. That’s an industry standard thing, not a Prime-specific one. People need to be smart about what they’re putting in their bodies," he said.
Internet reacts to Logan Paul's statement
Many people reacted to Logan Paul's statement as the video was shared on YouTube. A user wrote, "I let my kids try the decaf ones and they say it’s 'trash'." Another person said, "When I worked at walmart it was always a child that asked me where the prime was."
Another person commented, "High blood pressure is dangerous. Young kids who starts developing high pressure will be stuck taking medication for high pressure when they are older."
Another user added, "There are so many other energy drinks with just as much and some with more caffeine than the Prime drinks have."
