Loren Gray talks about her debut album ‘Guilty’
In a YouTube interview with Kyle Meredith, Gray discussed her debut album, 'Guilty' which took her two years to write and has been independently released. “I have been wanting to write an album since I started making music six years ago now," Gray adds.
She also spoke about how an album must sound cohesive even though there is an essence of diversity in all the songs. When implored upon what it meant to be a singer and make a career in the public eye, Gray said, “I signed to a label so young. I signed to a capital when I was sixteen and there were so many differing opinions of who I should be rather than just me being me. I mean I started social media before I started making music and I was already solidified as Loren, as who I am.”
“To me, there wasn’t really a need to create this persona when I already existed and I was enough for people and I just wanted a different avenue,” she adds.
“I feel like for the past however many years everything’s always been about Loren and Loren can dance… and look how sexy Loren is… and I wanted something different. I wanted a story and I wanted to tell that story through having this sort of secondary character." she says.

Like the rest of the world, Loren Gray is also a proud Swifty. In the interview with Meredith, she opened up about how being a superfan of Taylor Swift and Eminem has shaped the way she builds worlds inside her songs. “It’s beyond fair to call me a Swiftie," she says.
She further added, “From the beginning of when I started listening to music I grew up with two inspirations, Taylor Swift and Eminem — very different ends of the spectrum but you’d be surprised how much overlap there is in the lyricism and the way they’re able to connect to their audience.”
