LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the opulent world of Soho House, Markus Anderson, the global membership director, has long been regarded as the "second most important man" in Meghan Markle's life. Known as 'Mr Soho House,' Anderson is said to have played a pivotal role in orchestrating the union between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
However, recent internet speculation has thrust Anderson and Meghan's confidant, journalist Omid Scobie, into the limelight with unverified claims about their personal relationship.
Scobie, the co-author of the bestselling biography 'Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family', has returned with a new book, 'Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival'. Despite his professional success, Scobie now faces heightened scrutiny in his personal life, with salacious claims circulating online.
A viral YouTube video alleges that Scobie was Markus Anderson's "boy toy" and insinuates that Scobie ascended the social ladder by "sleeping around." Outlandish assertions about Prince Harry's sexual preferences were also made in the clip. However, it's crucial to note that these claims lack substantiation or credibility.
Social media uproar over Omid Scobie's book 'Endgame'
Social media was inundated with a barrage of claims painting Scobie in a less than favorable light following the release of his new book.
"Omid Scobie has been sacked from every job he has had, because he backstabs and sleeps his way around the office. The only reason he got entry into Soho House was because he slept with Marcus Anderson, that is how he met the other wide-legged social climber Meghan," one person accused on X (formerly Twitter).
"The Harkles pet poodle #OmidScobie couldn’t lie straight in bed. He was besties when Meg was a struggling actress supplementing her income on the yacht scene. He was also Markus Anderson’s boyfriend when she worked from Soho House as an escort," another claimed.
"Omid Scobie is a dirty little rat. It is well known how promiscuous he was when he was hired in as a part-time tabloid rapporter. He was also (maybe still is), Markus Anderson's lover boy. Duchess deceitful's best buddy. Bring back Dan Wootton knows so much about this guy," someone else alleged.
Who is Markus Anderson?
Markus Anderson, a figure shrouded in mystery, transformed from a waiter at Soho House to a top consultant. He reportedly played a role in introducing Omid Scobie to Meghan Markle and guiding him to become an informal spokesperson for the Sussexes. However, the veracity of these claims remains uncertain.
It's essential to acknowledge Markus Anderson's professional achievements. Named one of Toronto Life's 50 Most Influential in 2014, Anderson plays a crucial role in shaping guest lists for high-profile events, including an annual Oscars bash.
Delving into Markus Anderson's tastes, it becomes apparent that he appreciates the finer things in life, with favorite designers like Alexander McQueen and Saint Laurent. His choice of beverage reflects a penchant for luxury, often favoring a glass of champagne or beer, according to The Sun.
Setting up Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
It is unclear how Prince Harry knows Anderson, though the latter reportedly facilitated secret meetings between Harry and Meghan at various Soho House locations.
While the couple's official engagement interview hinted that designer Misha Nonoo set up a blind date in London, where Meghan and Harry first met, some believe that it was Markus who brought them together. The couple reportedly spent "a secret weekend away at Soho Farmhouse" and even attended a Halloween soiree together in Toronto's Soho House in 2017.
“He [Prince Harry] asked Markus if he could set up, not a date, but an opportunity for them to meet and that happened in one of the private rooms of Soho House,” royal commentator Katie Nicholls stated.
One internet source even claimed that Prince Harry was probably "set up" by Markus, Omid, and Meghan, suggesting a calculated orchestration of their union. "The more I read about Omid Scobie and Marcus Anderson and our Duchess of Sussex 'friendships,' the more I can see how set up Harry really was."
"Long before Prince Harry came on the scene, Markus was introducing Meghan to all sorts of rich and powerful people," a Soho House source previously told the Daily Mail.
Having said that, it is important to note that the aforementioned claims are just that and couldn't be verified independently.
