LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Leslie Litt, the casting director for the hit TV show 'Friends' and Mathew Perry's close friend, recalled her personal relationship with the actor.
Litt, who was tearful, said she had a very close bond with Perry that was different from others in an interview with News Nation.
I had to come out and tell people how wonderful Mathew was: Leslie Litt casting director of 'Friends'
Leslie Litt said that the reason for her to come out was to tell people how wonderful a person Mathew Perry was.
It was to honor his words to not just remember him as a 'Friends' star which he himself thought was very unlikely to happen and Mathew had touched Litt's life in an emotional way.
Leslie Litt said he knew Perry long before 'Friends' and remembered him being "so talented, so funny, and so charismatic."
Litt said as a casting director "You kind of know in your gut when someone has something special and Mathew absolutely did."
Besides being professional Lis said she had a very personal relationship with Mathew Perry
She said, "I knew Mathew in a different way," hoping that she could share it.
Lis continued, "I Know a different side to Mathew besides a professional relationship I had with him, I had a very personal relationship with him."
“He was just a very, very incredibly giving, loving, beautiful-hearted person,” she said.
Mathew Perry helped Leslie Litt's 5-month-old daughter Lily Clare with neurogenetic syndrome
She also told a moving story about how Perry supported her when her 5-month-old daughter Lily Clare faced a life-threatening condition.
Lily Clare was born with a neurogenetic condition called Williams syndrome and couldn't make it through when she was operated upon when she was five months old.
"It affected everyone in the crew, but Mathew was so comforting," Litt said.
Perry also offered to help and hosted her foundation’s annual fundraiser at the Beverly Hills Hotel for over a decade. The event benefited countless children with special needs.
“I asked Matthew every year to host it. When the last scene of Friends was shot, everyone was on the floor hugging and crying
"Matthew turned to me and said, ‘I know I won’t see you every day, but you don’t have to ask me anymore. I’m there for you, I will always host it,’” Litt said.
She said, “I don’t know that he knew how loved he was. But he deserves it,” Litt said. “I’m very grateful for the time that we had,” Litt said of her relationship with Perry.
