LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The highly-anticipated 'Barbie' movie has announced the lineup of songs that will accompany the film. Dua Lipa takes the spotlight in the 'Barbie' soundtrack with her latest song, 'Dance The Night', with music contributed by a diverse range of artists, including Ava Max, Charli XCX, Fifty Fifty, Gayle, Haim, Ice Spice, Khalid, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj and Tame Impala. The 'Barbie' album is being overseen by executive producer Mark Ronson and will be released on the same day as the film, which is set for July 21.

However, a surprising addition to the list is Ryan Gosling, who plays the character of Ken in the movie. Gosling gained recognition for his vocal contributions in the Academy Award-winning romantic musical film 'La La Land' directed by Damien Chazelle. Additionally, he is a member of the rock group Dead Man's Bones.

Who is Baby Goose?

As a musician, Gosling adopted the moniker Baby Goose, a clever play on the significance of his last name. He ventured into the music realm by establishing the gothic rock band 'Dead Man's Bones' in 2007. Together with Zach Shields, he released a self-titled album featuring collaborations with the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir. Gosling had the chance to join The Backstreet Boys in the 1990s. His neighbor, AJ McLean, asked him to be part of the band. However, Gosling scoffed at McLean's prediction that The Backstreet Boys would become highly popular, thinking they were just copying 'New Kids on the Block'.

The adored actor embarked on his journey in the entertainment industry at a young age, making his mark in 'The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse' alongside future luminaries such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. During his time on the show, Gosling often showcased his singing talents, but he eventually chose to prioritize acting, leading him to secure his first significant film role in 2001's 'The Believer', where he portrayed a Jewish neo-Nazi.

Ryan Gosling's acting journey

Gosling chose to focus on acting and experienced success with notable roles early on, including Noah in 'The Notebook' and Dan in 'Half Nelson', which earned him his first Academy Award nomination. He continued to build his reputation by taking on diverse characters in films like 'Lars' and the 'Real Girl', 'Blue Valentine', and 'Crazy, Stupid, Love'. However, it was his portrayal of a stunt performer and getaway driver in 'Drive' that propelled him to greater recognition. Throughout the 2010s, Gosling showcased his talent in a range of genres, achieving acclaim in both dramatic and action-oriented performances. His latest project includes playing the role of Ken in the eagerly anticipated 'Barbie' movie directed by Greta Gerwig.

During a recent interview for Vogue's summer 2023 issue, Gosling and his Barbie co-star, Margot Robbie, discussed their collaboration. "She left a pink present with a pink bow, from Barbie to Ken, every day while we were filming," Gosling recalled. "They were all beach-related. Like puka shells, or a sign that says 'Pray for surf.' Because Ken’s job is just beach. I’ve never quite figured out what that means. But I felt like she was trying to help Ken understand, through these gifts that she was giving."

The 'Barbie' movie is set to hit theaters on July 21.
