LONDON, ENGLAND: Prince Harry reportedly made a phone call to his father King Charles to wish the septuagenarian monarch his 75th birthday on Tuesday, November 14.
The alleged transatlantic call came as a “nice surprise” for the monarch who was out of touch with Harry “for some time," The Mirror reports.
Several UK tabloids including BBC consider the call to be the Duke of Sussex's initiative to extend an olive branch to the king after the father-son duo were reported not to be on talking terms for around six months after the release of Harry's memoir 'Spare.'
Commenting on the call, a royal source told The Mirror, "The King would like nothing more than for peace to play out within his family. The last few years have been particularly testing for the monarchy and the King appears to be very much focussed on the future, rather than things that have happened along the way.”
How did King Charles celebrate his birthday?
King Charles's birthday was reportedly a normal working day for the monarch. The day started with ceremonial gun salutes in the city of London.
The King's birthday plans also included him hosting a reception for NHS nurses and midwives, per BBC. On his birthday, King Charles's Coronation Food Project was also launched with the King and Queen visiting a surplus food distribution centre in Didcot in Oxfordshire.
The Royal Family's social media channel on X posted a video montage made of King Charles' photos from each year of his life.
While the video montage included pictures of Prince William and Prince Harry, Princess of Wales, Kate and Meghan Markle were missing from the birthday message, per The Mirror.
Prince Harry and Meghan were, however, missing from the birthday post on the official Instagram account of the Prince and the Princess of Wales. Three photos were accompanied by the birthday message, "Wishing His Majesty The King a very happy 75th birthday!"
In the first photo of the carousel, a photo of young Prince William and King Charles can be seen. The second photo in the sequence is a single closeup picture of King Charles.
The third photo, which created quite a ripple on social media, features the King accompanied by Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales along with their three children.
'Where is Harry?'
As the Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales made the birthday post, a section of fans questioned Prince Harry's absence from the family picture.
One of them said, "I know this is not about Prince Harry and his family but leaving him out of the pictures is so sad. He is still King Charles son and Prince William is still his brother. He is still Family."
Someone else questioned, "Where is Harry?"
"Harry never existed?" commented another social media user.
Another fan noted Harry's absence and said, "That’s just sad to leave out Harry !!! What’s wrong with these people!"
"Your ignored the litle Brother," commented another user.
A fan remarked obliquely, "Four people missing from that last picture."
