NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: 'Queer Eye' has transformed a wide range of heroes throughout the years, from ranchers to gay pastors. But we've never witnessed anything like what Season 7 had in store for us. The Fab Five assisted the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha in the first episode of the new season, which debuted on Netflix on May 12. "That's right, we're doing a frat house," Bobby Berk told the audience.
As the five entered a mold and fly-infested party home, their jovial comments quickly turned into cries of terror. Bobby, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, and Tan France were all part of the new season premiere in New Orleans. But it wouldn't be all sequins and Mardi Gras masks. The 'Queer Eye' team challenged its heroes to tackle everything from toxic masculinity to their own internalized homophobia in the first episode of the new season.

Who nominated the Lambda Chi Frat Bros on 'Queer Eye'?
The first episode's heroes were the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brothers: Cooper Lemon, Josh Johnson, Ryan Parker, Josh Allen, and Ian Raybourn. Seniors Josh A and Ian nominated themselves and his brothers in the hopes that the Fab Five would serve as a "wake-up call" and "push the frat in the right direction." Josh A thought that his fraternity had declined in quality and that their home had been in shambles before they invited the Fab Five.
The fraternity was described as a "mess" by alumni advisor, Marco Perez. The majority of the Lambda Chi boys rarely considered themselves fraternity types. However, after surviving the pandemic together, they developed a brotherhood and support system. Most individuals on the UNO campus had no idea Lambda Chi existed after two years of canceled activities due to the pandemic. Their growth got stunted by their inability to host large gatherings of people at their house. They didn't have a steady stream of money flowing in.
They are required to work on particular events, which earns them money. The fraternity's financial situation was dire at the time of the shooting. The fraternity planned to have an alumni mixer at the conclusion of the week. It was a significant occasion for the club since it allowed them to solicit alumni funds, something the fraternity sorely needed in order to put on festivities in the next semester. So this season's first mission was to make those "sloppy joes into proper pros."
What did the Fab Five do for the Lambda Chi Frat Bros?
Tan recognized that these boys understood how to put together a look, but he wanted to show them how they might improve. Tan characterized them as "typical college students" when he first met them, and they didn't appear right for the event at the end of the week, so that's where he assisted the boys. Tan wanted to educate them on how to give each other advice and how to appear more mature. They played a game in which the boys ransacked the store for five minutes, selecting what they thought was appropriate for the upcoming event.
Tan led the boys to express themselves as they found a variety of suitable selections. He advised them to dress business casual. He urged them to wear button-ups and polos instead of casual t-shirts and to replace trainers with proper shoes or boots. They were asked to rate each other at the end of the game. The boys even went looking for accessories in the women's wear department. The boys were even comfortable criticizing each other as well as giving compliments.
Antonio recognized that if Lambda Chi Alpha wanted to get respect and recognition from their alumni, he needed to bring them inside his kitchen and show them what a spotless kitchen should look like. He devised a wonderful solution so that the boys might earn money by asking for donations.
Antoni demonstrated how to prepare "the most iconic sandwich of all." It was a special favorite of his, and it was a New Orleans-based dish. He instructed the boys on how to mix a variety of ingredients to make a Muffuletta, which could serve as the symbol of their fraternity. Given the frat boys acted as a "chosen family," it reminded Antonio how the term is broadened outside the LGBTQ+ community. The boys describe it as a "home away from home."
Jonathan noted that the frat brothers were not taking care of themselves. He took up the job to teach these young guys the fundamentals of grooming. Jonathan requested that Cooper Lemon trim his long beard to a length equal to Jonathan's. Ian, a film major, also wanted to cut his long hair as he looked 'like a drummer'. For Ryan, he suggested losing his beard and going for "little tres Harry Styles" in his life. Josh A had to say goodbye to his cherished facial hair that included a mustache and a full braid of hair. Demario desired to add highlights to his hair.
Karamo realized that they weren't giving each other enough room to talk about their thoughts and what they were going through, so he decided to take the frat to a place where they could just come together, relax, and connect. Karamo knew that the boys were lost. They required some direction. They needed to learn how to communicate so that they could begin to grow together. Demario's tearful revelation kept the conversation rolling, with the boys feeling comfortable to open up further and promising to do so in the future.
Bobby noted how the boys let their house fall into ruin, which showed him that they didn't take pleasure in where they lived or what they were a part of. So these boys had to scrape, dust, clean, sweep, hoover, and wipe everything in the house that they had never done before. Bobby showed them how easy it actually is to repair things. He hoped that this would give them a sense of responsibility and make them feel proud of the space they live in. Bobby spoke to the leader of the house, Ryan Parker, and tried to teach him how to assume his role properly. Ryan promised Bobby, in order to keep the house maintained in the future, he will make sure "people are accountable for things." Bobby wished to zhuzh up the fraternity and make it appear more sophisticated. Bobby made sure to introduce a library into the living room area and make room for a gaming area or theater room.
Where are the Lambda Chi Frat Bros now?
With the Fab Five, the boys not only learned how to take pride in the space that they lived, but also they also helped the boys turn into men in that short transformational period. With the Fab Five gone, the boys were ready to host the alumni. Ryan took up his leadership role seriously and started delegating tasks. Their aim was to convert as many as possible by the end of the night. With the help of the Fab Five's massification, they turned the luck around for the Lambda Chi.
