LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hulu’s psychological thriller, ‘Saint X’ is now past its halfway mark and the mystery of Alison Thomas’s murder is nowhere near to being solved. The motives of people at the idyllic resort where Alison is vacationing with her family keep boiling up but the show does a disservice to its viewers by not pulling them into a particular motive of one person. So far, Edywn and Gogo, the two helpers at the resort have been made suspects while Ethan, the middle-aged man who thirsts for her, and Tyler, the college boy have been left out of the suspect list.
The series is split into two timelines — past and present where the past shows an 18-year-old Alison at the peak of her youth, delving into romantic adventures with Tyler and Edwyn while Ethan shadows her from afar. Her dad is now skeptical of Edwin’s motives for her daughter and Emily is too young to comprehend all that is happening around her. In Episode 5, Emily in the present timeline is living with her boyfriend in New York and meets Gogo a.k.a Clive, working as a cab driver. She decides to get close to him to find the truth about her sister’s unloved murder mystery. Emily’s family is distraught, her boyfriend questions her obsessive behavior while Sunita, her colleague at work warns her of the repercussions of going behind Gogo. But Emily is hellbent to solve the mystery. In the past, Alison decides to end her romantic fling with Tyler and confront Edwyn about their secret.

Emily’s obsession takes turn for the worst
Emily is a woman on a mission. She wants to find her sister’s murderer. Until now, Emily has been able to build a rapport with Gogo in New York but Gogo’s confidence is wavering. He now confronts Emily about her interest in him. Emily mumbles and falters for a response and Gogo rushes out before she can find an answer. At work, all Emily can think about is Gogo’s story and the answers she could get out of him about that horrific night at the resort.
Before leaving, Gogo mentions that someone from his past has contacted him. Emily thinks it's Edwyn who could have better answers for her. But unfortunately, it's Bery, the babysitter at the resort who is now in New York. Emily follows Gogo when he’s on his way to meet Bery who hands him a note. Gogo is furious upon reading the note which Emily now infers to be from Edwyn. When Emilly is explaining it to her colleague Sunita, she learns that she’s fired from her job.
In a desperate attempt, Emily even reaches out to Tyler in New York to learn more about Edwyn. She wants answers from Tyler but all he tells Emily is that Edwyn was a charismatic and the most duplicitous man he ever met. Emily is reaching out to whoever she can but the answers are just not coming. Instead, in a quest to solve Alison’s murder, Emily has lost her job, fell out with her boyfriend, lost all rapport with Gogo, and stands on the verge of losing her sanity.
Alison isn’t sure of anyone
At the resort, Alison is asked by her father to stay away from Edwyn and not get tangled up in something that she might regret. Taking her father’s advice, she tells Edwyn that if they continue their fling, Edwyn might get sacked if he’s caught. Tyler arranges a romantic evening with Alison who eventually throws him off when he tries to get too forceful with her. Alison walks away from him, leaving both her flings hanging by a thread. The fifth episode which kicked off with the search for Alison at the resort ends with Josh looking for Emily, his girlfriend who seems to have fallen off the radar.
