LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise and Shakira are rumored to be the new hot couple in showbiz after they were seen together at the 2023 Miami Formula One Grand Prix on May 7. While there is no confirmation from either side, sources claimed that Cruise was "extremely interested in pursuing" the Colombian singer, 46, as "there is chemistry" between them.
However, the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker brushed off these rumors. “Shakira had a great time hanging out with Tom at F1 but she has no interest in dating him,” an insider told Us Weekly, adding, “He was really nice and she enjoyed his company, but she isn’t focused on dating him or anybody else at the moment. She has a lot on her plate and is focused on her kids and career for now.” With a no from Shakira, many suggest that she may have escaped, due to the actor's tumultous relationship history.

Why did Tom Cruise divorce Mimi Rogers?
Cruise, who had been married three times, first exchanged vows with Mimi Rogers in 1987. Rogers is said to be one of Cruise's initial connections to the Church of Scientology, with which he has since grown intimately affiliated. Unfortunately, the couple's marriage didn’t last long as they divorced before the end of 1989. According to some sources, prominent Scientologists were called in to hasten Cruise and Rodgers' divorce so that he could begin a relationship with his second wife Nicole Kidman.
It was reportedly alleged that Rogers' father, a major member of the church, departed in the early '80s, sparking enmity against her inside the institution. Former Scientology church official Mike Rinder stated in his book that Scientologists coaxed Rogers into divorce, clearing the door for the new marriage. He added that this was "highly unusual and would never have happened with a normal Scientologist." However, the Church of Scientology vigorously refuted these charges in a statement, calling them "utterly ludicrous,” according to the Daily Mail.
Tom Cruise left Nicole Kidman ‘shocked’
Nicole Kidman became Cruise’s second wife in 1990. Kidman told People magazine in 2016 that they fell in love during the filming of ‘Days of Thunder’, which began in December 1989. The ‘Rabbit Hole’ actress, who was just 23 when they got married, became a mother at 25 when the couple adopted Isabella Jane. They adopted their son, Connor, three years later. They were one of Hollywood's most recognized couples for over a decade, until their split in 2001, when Cruise walked out on the relationship, leaving the actress in a state of "utter shock."
That same year, the ‘Top Gun’ star filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." "I thought our life together was ideal," Kidman said a year later, adding, "It took me a very long time to heal. It was a shock to my system. We were in a bubble, just the two of us. We became very dependent on one another. I was reeling with Tom. I would have gone to the ends of the earth for him.... I was totally smitten - I fell madly, passionately in love," per Daily Mail.
Tom Cruise forced Katie Holmes to have 'silent delivery'
Cruise tied the knot for the third time with Katie Holmes in 2006. The pair made their first public appearance together in Rome in April 2005, and they were instantly called 'TomKat' by the press. One of the most disputed claims about the actor, who is deeply devoted to Scientology, was that he forced Holmes to have a "silent delivery" when their daughter Suri was born in 2006. Many Scientologists believe that hearing their mother's cries or moans as they are being born may traumatize newborns.
Furthermore, according to the organization, mothers in labor are encouraged to decline painkillers and should anticipate few words of comfort from anyone present during the delivery, which includes medical professionals. However, the ‘Collateral’ star refuted these claims and said Holmes was allowed to do whatever she wanted. "Whatever the woman wants. I'm not gonna tell Kate …" he told Diane Sawyer, adding, "You know, if she needs an epidural, she's gonna get her epidural...if she needs medicine, she needs medicine."
The rift between Tom Cruise and Suri
Despite his massive net worth and illustrious career, Cruise has no relation with his daughter, Suri. Just like his past marriages, Cruise and Holmes' marriage didn’t last long with the latter filing for divorce in June 2012. Following their separation, Cruise admitted that Holmes' desire to protect Suri from Scientology was a factor in their divorce.
Her choice to leave the church and the marriage produced a large rift between the former spouses, causing Cruise and Suri to grow more distant over time. It is believed that the actor hasn't seen the 17-year-old since 2013 but he was paying her college tuition costs, per his ultra-secret divorce agreement with his actress ex. According to their divorce documents, Cruise agreed to pay Holmes $400,000 a year until Suri turned 18.
