LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Arnold Schwarzenegger is relieved that his divorce from Maria Shriver, 67, did not include any unpleasant surprises. The actor thinks the former couple deserves the Oscars for how they handled the challenging period. The 'Terminator' actor recently opened up about divorcing the former First Lady of California, to whom he had been married for 25 years before rumors of his liaison with the family housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena soured their union in 2011.
"[The divorce] was very, very difficult in the beginning. Eventually, you move on," said Schwarzenegger, who is back in action with the upcoming action-comedy 'FUBAR' which is streaming on Netflix from May 25, 2023. "I have a wonderful girlfriend, Heather Milligan, who is very successful," the actor said, The Hollywood Reporter reported. His two sons -- Patrick, 27, and Joseph Baena, his secret child, 23, were spotted working out together recently which astounded many.

'I love my wife'
Schwarzenegger has admitted that Shriver continues to hold a special place in his heart, so Milligan, a physical therapist, isn't the only woman to have held that position. The former couple have four children -- Katherine, 33; Christina, 31; Patrick, 29; and Christopher, 25. Baena and Schwarzenegger are the parents of 25-year-old Joseph Baena who is an avid bodybuilder and fitness fanatic. He's also a budding actor who, according to reports, will star alongside Rosa Salazar in 'The Chariot' in his big screen debut. The 25-year-old has more than 289K Instagram followers and frequently posts images of himself working out and flashing his muscles.
"I love my wife. She and I are really good friends and very close, and we are very proud of the way we raised our kids," Schwarzenegger said about his ex-wife. "Even though we had this drama, we did Easter together, Mother's Day together, the Christmases together, all birthdays — everything together," he added.
'If there's Oscars for how to handle divorce, Maria and I should get it'
The former Governor of California even feels they should win an award for their amiable nature. "If there's Oscars for how to handle divorce, Maria and I should get it for having the least amount of impact on the kids," he added. Schwarzenegger noted how his four children with Shriver had characteristics with both of them. "The sweetness and kindness you see in them, that's from my wife," he stated, adding, "The discipline and work ethic is from me."
