LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Internet is not happy with the two-times Oscar winning actress Jodie Foster, 61, for her take on superhero movies.
The receipient of three BAFTAs and three Golden Globes came under further scrutiny as she called the fan-favorite genre "a phase" and projected "people will be sick of it soon."
Jodie Foster marvels at 'Iron Man' and 'The Matrix'
Talking to Elle Magazine in an interview, the 'Taxi Driver' star candidly voiced her views regarding the advent of the popular genre of movies that has dominated the last decade's box office.
Talking about superhero movies, Foster said, “It’s a phase. It’s a phase that’s lasted a little too long for me, but it’s a phase, and I’ve seen so many different phases."
She continued projecting the waning of the genre's popularity saying, "Hopefully people will be sick of it soon."
She, however, concurred that she is "swept up in the entertainment" of few "good" movies saying, "The good ones—like Iron Man, Black Panther, The Matrix—I marvel at those movies, and I’m swept up in the entertainment of it, but that’s not why I became an actor."
'The Silence of the Lambs' star added, "And those movies don’t change my life. Hopefully there’ll be room for everything else.”
'They’ve been making super hero stuff since forever'
Internet was left dissatisfied with Jodie Foster's take on superhero movies as they voiced their opinion against her take.
One superhero genre fan said, "People like different things Jodie, you're allowed to not care about them."
"She couldn’t be more wrong here. Sure there are some people who don’t enjoy superhero movies but there is a VERY LARGE following behind these movies still. Superhero movies and comics have always been around and will ALWAYS be around," said someone else.
Someone else rallied in, "People are tired of some mediocre superhero films...not all of them."
"Who is she to dictate to us when we get tired, nahh she doesn't have that leverage," said another fan.
Another social media user voiced, "LEAVE THE CONSUMERS ALONE! Ppl like what they like and have a right to spend their money to see what they want. There’s room for everything. Plus ppl got shit going on in their lives sometimes I don’t wanna watch nothing too serious and artsy. Sometimes I want to see someone get punched through a building."
Another fan countered, "They’ve been making super hero stuff since forever. It’s just the graphics and cgi was awful so people associated it with bad filmmaking ."
"If she doesn’t like them, then she doesn’t have to watch them. She can mind her business," said someoine else.
"No we won't, we love it here. She should stop projecting," said another disgruntled social media user.
