BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 introduced multiple talented aspiring singers. However, only three contestants, Iam Tongi, Colin Stough, and Megan Danielle reached the finale with Tongi winning the coveted title. The three-hour finale night featured stirring performances from music legends.
Besides the Top 3 finalists and the music legends, the contestants who came through the Top 10 also took the stage to perform during the finale. While Tongi won 'American Idol' Season 21, the viewers opined that We Ani deserved the coveted title.

'American Idol' viewers suggested that Ani should have won Season 21. One social media user tweeted, "Wé ani should’ve won but I guess America is deaf #AmericanIdol." We Ani was eliminated during Disney Night
Ani competed to advance to the Top 3 during Disney Night. She performed 'The Climb' by Miley Cyrus from 'Hannah Montana.' Ani was accompanied by an orchestra and delivered a stirring performance. Luke complimented her performance, "You delivered perfectly. It's a great song choice. Elegant delivery." Lionel praised Ani and said, "I’m in love with you. What really makes the difference... you make any song you sing... do you feel it." Katy also chimed in to compliment Ani. The pop star said, "You are a master of your craft." However, Ani failed to earn enough votes and had to bid an emotional adieu to the ABC show. The aspiring singer recently returned to the ABC network show during the finale episode. Ani joined Grammy winner singer Jazmine Sullivan and performed 'Bust Your Windows.'
Iam Tongi crowned 'American Idol' Season 21 winner
After a nail-biting three-hour finale, Tongi was crowned with the new 'American Idol' title. The singer delivered a stunning performance of his original song 'I'll Be Seeing You.' Tongi was up against Megan and Colin, who earned second and third, respectively. Tongi also performed 'Making Memories of Us' to earn viewers' votes. Katy said that Tongi's every performance moved the judges. Luke dubbed Tongi's voice a "natural gift from God." Meanwhile, Lionel said the greatest part of his being is that he's "an incredible storyteller." Soon after host Ryan Seacrest announced Tongi the winner, he sang 'Don't Let Go.' Tongi's family, the judges and the audience members were stirred by his final performance as they celebrated the win.
'American Idol' will return with a new season between January and March of 2024 during the broadcast television midseason schedule.
