LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ABC’s ‘The View’ made headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent months due to constant nagging by hosts and uncanny moments on live TV. When it comes to the host Whoopi Goldberg, she’s always in the headlines for something, casting herself as the center of attention on the show. Recently, she jumped from her seat and stood next to co-host Sunny Hostin as the guest turned his back on her on-air.
On Monday, June 5, ‘The View’ hosts Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, and Ana Navarro welcomed guest Senator Tim Scott on the show. The segment had a lot to talk about and the hosts bombarded Scott with several discussion questions. While Whoopi asked Scott about progression, the Senator answered but was suddenly interrupted by Sunny. She cut him off, causing the Senator to turn his chair around to face Sunny and answer her question. Whoopi seemed annoyed by this and barked back at the Senator as she jumped from her seat and stood next to Sunny.
Whoopi Goldberg got ignored
During a recent ‘The View’ segment, moderator Whoopi Goldberg had an embarrassing live moment when guest Tim Scott turned his back on her and other fellow co-hosts. As the show returned from the commercial, Whoopi exclaimed, “The reason we continue to have new exceptionalism is because every time folks make 40 steps forward, they get dragged 40 steps back. So, how do we, as a nation, because we as a nation seemingly go on the right track and then we go backwards.” She continued to explain her viewpoint, “You as a Black man, and one of the other three Black Senators. But, you yourself have talked about when police stopped you. How can you get your party to stop trying to get the progression that people are making? Because that's what I complained about when I wanted you to come out and speak about it.”
Senator Scott started explaining his answer to Whoopi and said that his party was making progress until he got interrupted by Sunny who said, “How is that?” Although Scott continued with Whoopi, he surprisingly turned his chair around to face Sunny to answer her question. As he began to answer her question, he was once again interrupted, this time by Whoopi who said, “That was me talking to you, so I’d love that answer.” But that didn’t stop Senator Scott from turning back his face as he still faced away from Whoopi, who then asked, “Should I come next to her?” He invited her over and she jumped from her seat, walked over to Sunny, put her arm around Sunny’s shoulders, and listened to Scott talking.
Scott was brutally mocked by hosts on live TV when he pointed out, “I was just talking to Ana,” who sarcastically slammed him saying, “Yeah, your back looks pretty damn good from here.” Nevertheless, Scott gave his answer and Whoopi got back to her seat. After facing the hosts' critics, the senator stood up to face all of them and continued talking, eventually ending up back in his seat again.
Whoopi’s yelling
When it’s Whoopi, it is evident that the viewers will likely encounter her behavior on live TV again. She has a constant habit of jumping from her seat as she did it back in April as well. During a segment, she yelled at a guest backstage, “We can hear you” after the microphone picked up murmuring. The show had just come back from a commercial break and Whoopi started, “Hey, welcome back, but hold on, what’s going on Alyssa?” The camera then turned to Alyssa Farah Griffin who announced something interesting. She said, “So, I am so excited. I guest-hosted Pivot Podcast with the incomparable Kara Swisher.” She continued to say, “That airs tomorrow, wherever you get your podcasts. We talk all things politics and policy.” Whoopi replied, “Cool,” while other co-hosts clapped until Whoopi again cut off, “Hold on a second, y’all.” She jumped from her seat to face backstage and added, “Hey, who's ever back there, we can hear you!” The panel burst into laughter as she sat back down and smiled at the camera. Alyssa explained, “It’s Taraji taking selfies.” Joy Behar then confirmed and Whoopi moved on with the show.
