LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Writers Guild of America strike has taken the entertainment industry by storm and its consequences have been quite tangible. The TV shows are falling apart and the importance of writers is quite understandable by the entire industry at this point. Several celebrities have quit their shows and are now crossing the picket line to stand with the writers. The WGA strike has gained momentum with Mayim Bialik quitting 'Jeopardy!' over it to fans thrashing Ken Jennings for choosing to host the show despite it all. Now, another supporter has come out in support of the striking writers. Seth MacFarlane, the creator and star of 'Family Guy', one of the best shows on television to date has quit. Yes, you read it right! After 24 glorious years of bad sarcasm and dark humor, MacFarlane walked out of the show in support of the WGA strike.
Apparently, MacFarlane wasn't the only one to walk out, other showrunners like Brian Boyle, Matt Weitzman, Rich Appel, and Alec Sulkin have also chosen to step down. The actor, who voices Peter Griffin, won't return to the show until an agreement is reached between the Writers Guild of America and the studio, Deadline claimed.

A source reportedly spoke to the publication and opened up about the situation inside the studio. The insider said, "There is quite a bit of runway to go before the wheels come off." They continued, "The animated satire has about three months of scripts, v/o, etc already completed. Then the studio will have to figure out what steps to take next."
MacFarlane was seen at the picket line as soon as the Writers Guild of America went on strike on May 2, 2023. 'Family Guy' Season 21 ended on May 7, 2023, with 20 episodes. MacFarlane also worked on 'American Dad', which released Season 20 in March.

The Writers Guild of America strike is the consequence of the constant falling-out between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). After the two parties didn't reach a verdict about a new three-year film-TV contract to replace one that expired on May 1, supporters of the Writers Guild of America, including writers from well-known studios and several celebrities from popular shows, began to strike together. The last WGA strike happened in 2007 and lasted for 100 days. Coincidentally, MacFarlane was a part of it as well.
