The immediate family of former President Donald J Trump
Donald John Trump, 77, the former president and present Republican forerunner for the 2024 elections, has made his family name synonymous with real estate, reality television, and politics. The Trump Family Organization, which is currently being sued for civil fraud in New York, happens to be a complicated web of professional and personal connections. Here is a comprehensive guide to the branches of the Trump family tree directly linked to the twice-impeached presidential hopeful.
Frederick Christ Trump Sr
Donald Trump's father was born in New York City in 1905. While in high school, he started his own construction company, building garages for the newly popular automobiles. The venture was a great success, but it was from building low and moderate-income housing in Brooklyn and Queens after World War II that he amassed most of his wealth. He died in 1999 and was estimated to be worth $300 million by then.
Mary Anne MacLeod Trump
The mother of the former president was born in Scotland in 1912. She met Frederick at a party, and the two got married in 1936, settling in Jamaica, Queens. Mary then focused on raising her children, and as the family’s wealth grew, she became an active philanthropist. In his book 'The Art of the Deal', Trump said about his mother, "She was a very traditional housewife, but she also had a sense of the world beyond her." Mary died in 2000 at the age of 88.
Maryanne Trump Barry
The eldest of Trump's siblings was born in 1937. Maryanne graduated from the Hofstra University School of Law and worked as a federal prosecutor and federal judge. She was nominated to the US Court of Appeals by President Bill Clinton in 1999. In February 2019, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals launched an investigation into Maryanne for alleged judicial misconduct and tax evasion, but she officially retired 10 days later, effectively ending the investigation.
Frederick Christ Trump Jr
Born in 1938, Frederick was expected to take over his father’s real estate business but had ambitions to be a pilot. This led to tensions with both his father and his younger brother Donald. In the 1960s and 1970s, he developed alcoholism, quit flying, got divorced, and moved in with his parents in Queens. Frederick died from a heart attack linked to alcoholism in 1981 at the age of 42.
Elizabeth Trump Grau
Trump's sister was born in Queens in 1942 and attended Southern Seminary College in Virginia before working as an administrative assistant at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York. Elizabeth married TV and movie producer James Grau in March 1989. The couple is presently retired and lives in Florida.
Robert Stewart Trump
The youngest of the Trump siblings was born in 1948. Robert began a career on Wall Street after attending Boston University and later joined the family real estate business. He sued his niece Mary for writing her memoir, defending his family. Robert died at the age of 71 in August 2020, his funeral service being held at the White House.
Ivana Trump
The first wife of the former president was married to him from 1977 to 1992. They shared three children, Donald Jr, Ivanka, and Eric. During their 15-year marriage, Ivana helped Donald build his real estate empire, working closely with him on early projects. She also went on to have a career in the fashion, jewelry, and fragrance industries. Ivana died in July 2022 after a fall in her Manhattan home at the age of 73.
Marla Maples
Trump started seeing Maples while he was still married to Ivana, which resulted in his first divorce. Maples married him in 1993, they separated in 1997, and the divorce was finalized in 1999. They share a daughter, Tiffany. An actress who appeared in film and on TV throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Maple raised Tiffany as a single mother but holds no ill will toward her ex.
Melania Trump
The Slovenian-American model married Trump in January 2005, and shares a son, Barron, with him. Melania was born in Yugoslavia in 1970 and had a successful modeling career in Paris, Milan, and New York. In 2017, Melania became the first foreign-born first lady since Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams. Since Trump's legal troubles began with his leaving office, Melania has preferred to lay low and focus on raising Barron.
Donald John Trump Jr
The eldest child of the former president and Ivana was born on December 31, 1977. Don Jr was married to Vanessa Haydon from 2005 to 2018, and share five children. He is engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle at present. Don Jr, who once shared a turbulent relationship with his father, is now an executive vice president of the Trump Organization and works closely with Trump Sr.
Ivana Marie 'Ivanka' Trump
Born on October 30, 1981, Ivanka attended Georgetown University and the University of Pennsylvania, joined the family business, and forged her own career path. She worked alongside her father at the Trump Organization, served as a judge on his reality show 'The Apprentice', and co-hosted the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant with him. During the Trump presidency, Ivanka was one of the top White House advisers. She also modeled and launched her own line of clothing, accessories, handbags, and jewelry. Ivanka has been married to Jared Kushner since October 2009, and shares three children with him, Arabella, Joseph, and Theodore.
Eric Frederick Trump
Trump's youngest son with his first wife was born on January 6, 1984. Eric attended Georgetown University, and joined the Trump Organization after graduating. He married Lara Yunaska, a TV producer and Fox News contributor, in November 2014, and shares two children with her, Eric and Carolina. Eric has been a staunch defender of his father in the face of his recent legal troubles.
Tiffany Ariana Trump

Raised by Maples as a single mother, Tiffany attended the University of Pennsylvania, before graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in May 2020. She has been married to businessman Michael Boulos since November 2022. Tiffany, who has a strained relationship with her father, does not work for the Trump Organization and had no role in his White House administration.
