MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA: The Twitter landscape has changed drastically ever since Elon Musk acquired the platform last year. But now its rival, Instagram Threads is already setting the Internet on fire. Threads seem primed to confront Twitter in a way that other competitors like Mastodon and Bluesky were not able to.
After barely a day or two of going live, the platform has already attracted a large number of influencers and celebrities. According to reports, 80 million users have already signed up for Threads. The app debuted on July 6 and is currently available in over 100 countries. Similar to Twitter, Threads enables users to upload a 5-minute video, links, and photographs in addition to 500 characters of text. Let's look at some of the first posts by TikTok sensations who were quick to join the Twiiter-Killer app.
1. Addison Rae
Addison Rae’s first post on Thread was a one-word text which said, ‘Hi'. The post received 1400 likes and nearly 180 replies. The next morning, Addison thanked her followers for showering her love on the platform. At the time of writing, the 22-year-old star had 684K followers.
2. Charli D'Amelio
Charlie Damelio, the social media sensation who already has a whopping 150 million followers on TikTok, received love from her fans as soon as she joined Threads. At the time of writing, she has 561K followers on the platform. Her bio reads,''all smiles here socialtourist©, borndreamerbycd*, @dameliofootwear, @dancingwiththestars.
Although her first thread said, “hi,'' just like Rae's thread. But it was continuously followed by several threads. She even shared a picture of her dog. Later, on July 7 she shared a picture of what she was having in her dinner. She wrote, '‘Hi threads I am eating dinner.’'
3. OvertimeMegan
The TikTok star Megan Eugenio aka OvertimeMegan gave an instant update on her life while telling her users that she made butter noodles. She wrote, "made butter noodles.'' At the time of writing, she had 27K followers. In her bio, she also mentioned and gave a link to her TikTok profile.
4. Bella Poarch
The 26-year-old is currently the third most-followed person on TikTok behind Charli D'Amelio and Khaby Lame. She has over 92 million followers on the video-sharing app. Her threads bio read 'hello' with a yellow heart emoticon. During the time of writing Poarch had already garnered 591K followers. While she has shared many threads, her first thread featured a picture of herself practicing for a music session. To which she captioned, "Testing, Testing." The post had nearly 5000 likes and 417 replies.
5. Madison Beer
Ever since Justin Bieber tweeted her YouTube cover of Etta James' song 'At Last' when she was 13, Beer was launched into the spotlight. Although the influencer has made an account on Threads, however, she has not posted anything yet for her 325K followers.
