CAIRO, GEORGIA: As fans are aware, Barry Plath is one of the primary stars of 'Welcome to Plathville'. The famous TLC show focuses on his huge family with his ex-wife Kim.
Fans are asking what Barry has going on in his love life after the couple's divorce. Is he dating someone new? Here's what we know about his current relationship status.
The quick answer is that it does not appear Barry is dating anyone. Barry has not yet officially stated that he is back on the dating scene either.
To be fair, the reality star's divorce from longtime wife Kim was very recent, so he may be allowing himself and the kids time to get used to their new situation.
But he's discovered another method to keep himself busy — exercise.
Barry has been continuously working out and transforming his physique from that of a father to that of a fit man who is single and ready to mingle. He's even doing weights with his son, Micah.
Are Barry and Kim Plath living apart after divorce?
Kim and Barry announced their divorce in June 28, 2022, after 24 years of marriage.
"After considerable thought and discussion, we have decided to end our marriage," Kim and Barry told People at the time.
"While this was not an easy decision, we know it’s the best choice for both of us. We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage, and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children."
They are now living separate lives, and even celebrated Christmas 2022 separately. Kim seemed to have skipped spending time with any Plath family members during the holidays, while Barry chose to spend it with their daughter Moriah and son Isaac.
Kim and Barry announced to their children in the season 4 finale of 'Welcome to Plathville' that they were separating permanently. "We are moving forward with a divorce," Kim stated in the last August episode.
Who is Barry Plath's first wife?
Without a Crystal Ball, blogger Katie Joy shared an official document on Instagram that appears to confirm Barry was previously married. Kim is not his first wife.
She also posted a lengthy commentary that goes into further detail regarding the mysterious marriage — as well as the reality star's history.
"Barry Plath is no stranger to divorce," the post claims, adding that Barry married Laurie Mack in 1990.
"By 1991, the couple had moved to Tallahassee, Florida," Katie said, adding that by 1994, Barry and his first wife had filed for divorce, "citing irreconcilable differences as the reason."
"The couple had no children and their divorce settlement had Barry responsible for paying off one of Laurie’s student loans," the caption states, noting that Barry married his second wife, Kim, in 1997.
"The marriage was Kim's first," according to the post, adding that Barry's first wife now lives in Minnesota, where he grew up, and has since remarried.
"Barry had NEVER mentioned his previous marriage," Katie claims. She alleges that Barry did not grow up as a fundamentalist, and that he did not become so engaged with religion until he relocated to Florida with Laurie.
Laurie and Kim both attended Florida State University, according to the Daily Soap Dish. Fans thought that Barry met Kim at college; however, he would have been married to his first wife at the time.
The timeline is undoubtedly complex, and it raises the issue of when the super-religious Plath couple — who went on to have ten children — became a couple.
In fact, the site speculated that Laurie and Kim may have "had a showdown" over Barry at some point!
According to Reality Titbit, Barry is around a decade older than Kim.
What does Barry Plath do for a living?
Barry is presently employed as a transportation planner for a private company. According to LinkedIn, the father of ten has been on the job for more than 25 years.
His daughter Lydia Plath made light of the job's complexities, as it required extensive knowledge of traffic patterns and motorways.
"This is me when my dad is telling me all about what he's been doing at work," the TLC star captioned a February 2023 video clip of herself appearing perplexed as the voiceover spoke in gibberish.
