OAK ISLAND, NORTH CAROLINA: Jace Evans, the son of 'Teen Mom' Jenelle Evans, has vanished from his grandmother's residence. The 14-year-old had been residing with his grandmother for approximately a month after his stepfather, David Eason was accused of abuse.
Jace went missing from his home on November 17, according to The Ashley Roundup and sources for The US Sun. He was discovered around 9:30 p.m. on November 18 and has since been hospitalized for mental health issues.
Police searched for approximately two days before finding the teen. According to The US Sun, several of his mother's social media posts had irritated Jace.
Jace was unable to obtain his right medicine while at Barbara's since Jenelle had the authority to prohibit access to certain medications. Therapists were afraid to work with Jace because they didn't want to face the consequences of David and Jenelle's criticism, leaving him without a therapist.
Following the alleged assault, Jace relocated to Jenelle's mother, Barbara's, home. She was scheduled to appear in court next week to formalize his residence there.
It is unknown why Jace fled his grandmother's home or where he will live next.
David Eason shares cryptic post amid stepson Jace Evans's disappearance
David wrote a strange statement on his Facebook page at about 11 pm on Friday night. "Where's Waldo?" it asked. "Why is he already hiding and I haven't even opened the cereal box yet?"
The message was made shortly after Jace went missing, but he has not verified that it is linked. Jenelle and David were told by CPS that Jace had fled, and they continued to post on social media at the time.
David has already ridiculed his stepson on social media.
David Eason accused of physically abusing stepson Jace Evans
According to the formal court summons acquired exclusively by The US Sun, David has been accused of inflicting harm on the left and right sides of Jace's neck. In the September incident, David "willingly" injured Jace, according to court filings.
According to the court's order, "The defendant unlawfully and willingly did, being the parent of Jace V Evans, who was a child, less than 16 years of age, inflict physical injury on that child."
"The physical injury inflicted caused marks on their right arm and left and right side of the neck, and was inflicted by other than accidental means."
According to various accounts, the alleged encounter occurred on September 28, the same day Jace claimed his stepfather beat him. The summons for David was issued on October 24, and according to the Columbus County Clerk's office, it was served on October 25.
David has yet to respond directly to any of the claims leveled against him.
