BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Terina, a 'Botched' Season 8 patient who had struggled with her weight her whole life, underwent a gastric sleeve treatment and dropped over 100 pounds.
She was, however, left with a large amount of dangling skin.
A Tijuana mommy makeover placed her in the ER with withering skin. An emergency operation saved her life, but just barely.
Dr Terry Dubrow stepped in a year later to repair her scars and tighten her skin, giving her the flat stomach she desired.
After nearly dying as a result of skin removal surgery in Mexico, resulting in a misshapen stomach, Terina stopped looking at herself and avoided mirrors.
She stated that she wouldn't be here if her family hadn't nursed her back to health.
Terina discovered her new tummy tuck by Dr Dubrow had worked a miracle, after her botched Mexico operation. She has finally fallen in love with her body again.
Terina had no belly button before her operation by Dr Dubrow, and the heavy scars left her disfigured with a tummy that looked like a "front butt" and a deformed and scarred pubic area, which she dubbed her "triple threat."
But after Dr Dubrow's intervention, Terina no longer has a "front butt." She is no longer a "triple threat."
Who is Terina on 'Botched' Season 8?
Terina from Amarillo, Texas, underwent a gastric sleeve, a stomach tuck, and a breast augmentation, which resulted in a large skin crack in the front of stomach.
Her tummy looked like a "front butt."
Her pubic region had three slits that she referred to as a "triple threat." She also has a dent where her belly button used to be.
Terina has been struggling with her weight since she was a child. She gained 400 pounds as she grew older, which made her very unhappy and brought her to the lowest point of her life.
Aside from eating, she used to play a game called "World of Warcraft." That's how she met her husband, Brandon.
Terina had her gastric sleeve surgery in March 2020. She shed a hundred pounds over the next year. She had so much extra skin that she decided to have a skin removal surgery.
Terina expected her skin removal procedure to be a dream come true, but it swiftly turned into a living nightmare. She ended up in the emergency room, and nearly died.
Terina's recuperation was very difficult for her children. She was filled with remorse. Terina wanted to put an end to all the operations and focus on her family.
What happened to Terina on 'Botched' Season 8?
Terina recounted during her appointment with 'Botched' doctors how she traveled from Texas to Tijuana for the procedure. She discovered a plastic surgeon in Tijuana who specialized in treating severe weight reduction patients on Facebook.
She had talked with his prior patients, who praised his work and dubbed him the G.O.A.T.
Terina was advised to take Mommy Makeover Package One when she walked in for her appointment in Tijuana. Package one included an upper back lift, a 360-degree body lift, breast implants, a breast lift, liposuction, and buttock fat transfer.
Living with all that extra skin was a nightmare, since it stank when it became heated. Terina was drawn to the package by her desire and dream of being "transformed" via the surgery.
When Dr Dubrow learned that the operation was completed in 6–7 hours, he couldn't resist but criticize the surgeon for going "so fast."
Terina observed some discoloration the day following the procedure. The surgeon suggested an Amazon cream that he said she should use for roughly two weeks. The discolored skin was meant to become black and finally fall off.
Terina contacted her primary care provider to get the sutures removed when the skin got infected instead of healing.
When she woke up, she had a large hole in her tummy, as the general surgeon had performed a debridement in the emergency room.
The physicians did apply a wound vac before she left the hospital, but the infection persisted. One spot would heal, but another would open up.
Terina had around 60 wounds covering her body at the time. Her body was fighting infections and healing, but for a while, it looked like she was losing the battle.
Terina's last opening closed more than a year after her operation in Tijuana. Terina then just wanted to appear normal and get on with her life.
Dr Dubrow discovered Terina didn't have a belly button during her checkup. She also had a major pubic area deformity.
Dr Dubrow intended to do an operation in which he would repair her abdominal wall with a vertical incision and then attempt to create a belly button for her.
He also intended to de-distort the public space, tighten everything up, and make it as wonderful as it could be without harming her living tissue.
Terina had to be disassembled in order to be rebuilt. The concern was that tearing down Terina may actually mean tearing down Terina's abdominal wall as well. In such an instance, Dr Dubrow's plan B was to just put it back the way it was and shut down the operation, valuing her life over aesthetics.
Dr Dubrow began Terina's procedure by creating an incision across her lower abdomen to analyze and deconstruct the scarring in her pubic area.
Dr Dubrow then raised her skin and strengthened her abdominal wall muscles. Finally, he corrected her deformed pubic region and determined if a vertical incision was required to reduce the horizontal skin laxity before sealing it up.
Terina stated that she immediately felt terrific during her Day One check-in. Dr Dubrow was relieved to hear this because the procedure was extensive.
He then got a sneak peek to see whether the skin was alive and if there was a belly button. The skin looked fantastic and there was no sign of necrosis.
Terina also mentioned that the difference was like night and day. The day after surgery was a very different experience than the last time, but following Dr Dubrow's operation, she thinks this is how she intended to appear all along.
How much does 'Botched' Dr Terry Dubrow charge?
Drs Dubrow and Nassif frequently perform "high-risk visual plastic surgery" that is more expensive than standard procedures and "could be $90,000 or $100,000 out in the real world."
Some procedures might last anywhere from six to eight hours.
'Botched' Season 8 airs every Thursday on E! at 10 pm ET.
