LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Tupac Shakur's sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, better known as "Set" and the current president of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, has described the accusation of a gang leader with his murder as a "pivotal moment."
The American philanthropist shared on social media how she felt when Duane "Keffe" Davis was charged with murder on Friday. She stated that "today is a victory," but she "reserved judgment" until the court case was through.
What did Tupac Shakur's sister say about the murder charge?
Sekyiwa Shakur said, "It’s important to me that the world, the country, the justice system, and our people acknowledge the gravity of the passing of this man, my brother, my mother’s son, my father’s son."
"There have been multiple hands involved and there remains so much surrounding the life and death of my brother Tupac and our Shakur family overall. We are seeking real justice, on all fronts," she claimed, as per Deadline.
She echoed Mopreme Shakur, Tupac's stepbrother, who told CNN: "We have been through decades of pain. They have known about this guy, who been running his mouth, for years."
"So why now? For us, this is not over. We want to know why, and if there were any accomplices," he added.
'Keffe D' to show up in court soon
Rapper Tupac Shakur's murder has led to the arrest of Duane Keith Davis, commonly known as "Keffe D." He was taken into custody early on Friday.
Davis is the only active suspect in the case. He is scheduled to show up in court soon to assess his custody status and set the date for a jury trial, per CNN.
Sekyiwa Shakur's tribute to late brother
Tupac, who was born in New York, is still one of hip-hop's most well-known figures. In addition to appearing in movies like 'Juice', 'Poetic Justice', 'Above the Rim', 'Gridlock'd', and 'Gang Related', he sold more than 75 million records.
Besides her advocacy work, Sekyiwa advises Amaru Entertainment, the company her mother, Afeni Shakur, formed to release the unfinished works of her late brother.
Sekyiwa broke down in tears during her speech at her late brother's recent Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
She commended her brother for achieving his goals before death and claimed that his star symbolizes both his legacy in the music industry and the long-lasting effects he left on earth, per Today.
