LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: There is never a day when one of the hosts of 'The View' is not in the news. After being the subject of persistent rumors and criticism, Whoopi Goldberg surpassed Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines's knack for creating controversy. Whoopi went missing from the Friday, May 12 episode of the show after an appearance by Mary Steenburgen as a guest.
'The View' host Whoopi Goldberg was recently rumored to be leaving the show due to her frequent blunders and absurd gaffes. The host even dropped a hint about quitting the show. One cannot help but draw connections between Whoopi's disappearance from Friday's broadcast and Mary Steenburgen's husband Ted Danson.

Whoopi Goldberg skips 'The View'
Whoopi Goldberg has again caused speculation after she skipped Friday's episode after Mary Steenburgen showed up to talk about her new movie 'Book Club: The Next Chapter.' It's not hard to guess that this was planned so they would not awkwardly run into each other as Whoopi dated Steenburgen's husband in the past. Although Whoopi is usually out on Fridays, it is rather coincidental that Mary shows up on the same day Whoopi is off.
How is Whoopi Goldberg connected to Mary Steenburgen?
Mary Steenburgen is married to Ted Danson, the past romantic lover of Whoopi. The romantic getaway of Ted and Whoopi began after they starred together in ‘Made in America’ in 1992 and dated for a few years. Her affair with Ted was the reason for his divorce from then-wife Cassandra Coates. The couple dated for 18 months, after which Ted met his current wife, Mary, on the set of his next movie ‘Pontiac Moon.’ After Whoopi and Ted’s breakup, she said, “It was really painful, and it was very public. And the loss of his friendship hurts a great deal. We can never go and have a soda, anywhere…I'm friends with almost every man I've gone out with, except this man."
After their split, Whoopi had a short-lived marriage with Lyle Trachtenberg. Whoopi had multiple goes at marriage, but after failing at each, she realized that she wasn’t interested in this concept and did not want to share her life full-time with someone. Additionally, she spoke about her sex life, stating that she doesn’t want relationships, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have an active sex life. She added, “I don’t want anyone in my house, I love men, and having fun with men. Yes, you can come over, but you can’t stay”. Whoopi further explained, “You have to go home. I want to have sex. And then I’ll talk to you because you’re my friend. But you’re not spending the night”.
She has repeatedly joked about “nobody spends the night” at her home except her cat. She also revealed that she is pretty wild and likes to be adventurous but can’t share the details as she’d get in trouble.
