NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Jimmie Allen is hitting back at his two accusers, who filed a sexual assault lawsuit against the artist in May. His previous manager claimed that Allen raped her, abused her, and sexually harassed her several times while his management team was fully aware. The second accusation came from a woman, who alleged that the country singer secretly filmed their sexual encounter in a hotel room. She further added that he engaged in sexual contact with her after she didn’t consent.
Allen has taken a serious beating after the sexual accusations were made against him, as ‘The Big In A Small Town’ singer was dropped by his record label BBR Music Group, his agency, UTA, and also his publicity firm Full Coverage Communications. The 38-year-old singer was set to perform at CMA Fest in June, but his name was taken down from the list of artists.
Why did Jimmie Allen wait before filing a countersuit?
The Grammy-award winner singer said in a statement, “I’ve taken a couple of months before publicly responding to these claims because I wanted to fix my family first. This situation has caused me great humiliation, and I felt it was necessary to seek professional help.” He continued, For years, I have dealt with racism and harmful threats solely because I am a Black man in the country music industry, and this situation has only amplified that.”
The ‘Best Shot’ crooner also talked about how the accusations have affected his family, and business at large, “These false allegations have caused me to lose a vast number of business and endorsement opportunities that I worked extremely hard for. These false allegations have also not only harmed me but have caused severe financial damage to my band, my team, and their families.”
Jimmie Allen and his estranged wife Alexis filed for divorce in April, ending their three years old marriage. The latter will soon be a mother to his third baby.
'False accusations'
On the other hand, the attorney representing both the accusers said he wasn’t surprised, "[It’s] what we'd expect — claims that all his encounters with Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 were consensual."The country singer talks about the false accusations and 'humiliation' he suffered, stated Beth Fegan, as per People.
She continued, "We're eager to show the court abundant evidence to the contrary, which we believe will prove that Jimmie Allen is a serial abuser and should be held accountable for his actions. It is becoming increasingly common for perpetrators to countersue their victims, claiming defamation. This is a concerning trend, one designed to convince victims that if they speak out, they will be the target of spurious litigation.”
