NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former NBC and Fox News star Megyn Kelly will soon be making her acting debut in a new The Daily Wire scripted series, 'Mr Birchum', and her followers couldn’t be less excited.
According to Deadline, "Mr. Birchum attempts to navigate a world he doesn’t understand or approve of. He’s befuddled by his gaming streamer son, Eddie, annoyed at his selfie-taking, snowflake students, and is constantly at war with the school district’s appointed ‘J.E.D.I.’ (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion officer)."
Besides Kelly, the first adult animated series of The Daily Wire features Adam Carolla, Brett Cooper, Roseanne Barr, Candace Owens, and Danny Trejo, among others.
The veteran journalist was recently joined by The Daily Wire Co-CEO, Jeremy Boreing, on her podcast to discuss the show and share some behind-the-scenes insights as it's set to release on DailyWire+ in early 2024.
Megyn Kelly excited to make her acting debut in The Daily Wire series
Speaking ecstatically about her upcoming acting project, Kelly exclaimed, "This is the film that is going to make me a star. Me. Me. I had to join SAG. I’m a union worker now."
"I love The Daily Wire and I love Adam Carolla, so I agreed to do this," shared Kelly, adding, "But I told him… ‘I’m not an actress,’ and he said, ‘You’ll be fine'."
The Co-CEO of The Daily Wire, Boreing, admitted that he was shocked to see Kelly’s name on his desk as a 'Mr Birchum' cast member.
He mentioned, "You know all I want in life is for you to be on The Daily Wire, and I would take any opportunity in the world to get you on The Daily Wire."
He continued, "But it was in no way my idea to put you in Mr Birchum – that stroke of genius came directly from Adam Carolla when he was giving us his dream list of cast."
Kelly said she "laughed so hard" when she first read the scripts and has learned a lot throughout the process.
She stated, "I work with the whole team… and the guys are so great because they’ll give me the line, and then I’ll say it wrong, and then they’ll just tell me exactly how to say it, and I’ll say it just like that. So, I can imitate."
Kelly also recalled that the team had to rewrite a scene once for her when she failed to deliver a laugh correctly.
