DIXON, KENTUCKY: '1000-lb Sisters' star Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman's divorce hearing has been going on for a long time. But it seems that the ex-couple has now decided to call it off. Amy and Michael were scheduled to report to Kentucky court on June 1.
Instead of taking matters to the court, the ex-couple chose to cancel the hearing. But, why did TLC's ex-couple cancel the hearing when they have been waiting for a resolution for a long time? Amy and Michael decided to cancel their divorce hearing, The Sun reports. The hearing was canceled as the ex-couple decided to settle the matter behind closed doors. Instead of taking the matter to court, Amy and Michael have decided to meet privately with their attorneys and officially settle their divorce. Whatever the situation may be, it will be showcased in the upcoming season of '1000-lb Sisters.' Whenever Amy and Michael are seen visiting the Kentucky court, crew members and camera person makes sure to follow the ex-couple. Indeed, everything is being filmed. Apparently, the settlement that is about to happen behind closed doors might also be captured on camera.
Amy Slaton withdraws domestic violence claims
Amy withdrew the domestic violence claims in May. But, the civil restraining order continues. Amy and Michael were ordered to have no contact outside their privately agreed contract. Both were directed to communicate via text over a particular app. Moreover, the ex-couple was allowed to be in the same room under the supervision of a third party. When it came to taking care of the kids, Michael was given the weekends and Amy shared the parenting schedule on weekdays. Later, Michael proposed an alternate parenting schedule. However, the proposal was dismissed by Amy.
Ever since the split, Michael has been living at his mother's place while Amy was seen crashing at Tammy Slaton's house. In March, Amy and Michael got joint custody of the kids but were told to remain 500 feet away from one another. However, the exception was made for the ex-couple to meet up to swap vehicles. As they traded yellow Mustang, Amy and Michael had a talk with each other for almost 10 minutes. They then drove off their separate ways.
