LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have reportedly ended their short summer romance. While the two singers never confirmed they were dating, they never outright denied the speculation either. Various reports shared varied reasons for them getting together in the first place. Taylor, who was fresh out of her long-term relationship with Joe Alwyn, was photographed with Healy in May after he attended one of her Eras tour concerts. ET previously reported that a source said, “Taylor and Matty have been hanging out recently and Jack Antonoff reconnected them."
The last straw that broke their short-lived relationship is speculated to be The 1975 singer’s kiss with a security guard on Friday, June 2. Even singer Boy George is of the same opinion as the Swifties. Swift's fans were already up in arms against their idol dating Healy, who has garnered a problematic reputation. When fans saw Healy pull the stunt on the security guard, they were sure "a breakup song" would soon be in the pipeline.
A source quickly provided an explanation for why Swift and Healy ended their brief affair after TMZ first reported the news. The source told ET, "Taylor and Matty broke up. They are both extremely busy and realized they're not really compatible with each other. Taylor's friends want what's best for her and aren't shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship."
The start of their alleged romance had set off some furor on Twitter. Healy has been slammed on the Internet several times over the years and most recently for poking fun at Ice Spice’s heritage and involving himself in a discussion about porn website Ghetto Gaggers, which is disrespectful towards women of color.
Healy's kiss with male security guard
The rock star is becoming increasingly recognized for his risk-taking performances at his concerts. In the midst of his affair with Taylor, The 1975 frontman kissed a male security officer on the lips earlier this week while performing in Denmark. The musician, who is infamous for making out with strangers while performing with his band, has previously claimed that he stopped kissing fans out of respect for Swift. However, Healy had a private moment with a staff member on Friday while performing his band's hit song 'Robbers' at the 2023 NorthSide Festival in Eskelunden. The security officer is seen enthusiastically beaming in fan footage of the meeting and raising his hands in the air after kissing the rock singer.
Healy has performed daring acts during concerts before. He made a splash on Twitter by sucking on fans' fingers and locking lips with them during a performance in Brighton on January 9, 2023. Fans shared videos from the event and tweeted their opinions about the musician's behavior.
Matty's exciting evening happened after admitting it was difficult to be sexualized by group admirers a few months prior. He told The Guardian, "People were having a romantic relationship with the band, I was sexualized to a certain extent; it was sexy, in the way that leather jackets and smoking and all that kind of s*** was sexy."
'It's because he kissed that security guard!'
The rock star kept up his custom of kissing someone live on stage and Boy George feels it is the security guard who broke the couple up. The Culture Club star claimed on Twitter, "It's because he kissed that security guard!" As the singer continued performing on Friday, the security man could be seen lifting his fists in jubilation. Boy George believes the rumored pair split up because of this specific action. Some of his supporters concurred, with one stating, "That’s entirely possible ! I guess that means another chart busting song coming from Taylor! She ‘s made a successful career out of bad relationships !" Another added, "I'm guessing it's because the security guard kissed him back." "What security guard?!" wrote a stunned fan. "Authority is pretty sexy hehe," trolled another.
