Dolly Parton doesn't text because 'it's too much to think about'
Dolly Parton has been in the news recently for multiple reasons. Her new album Rockstar is the number-one in the US - the first number-one album of her career. She also stirred some conservatives over the outfit she wore at the NFL halftime show, which some suggested was inappropriate for her age. But now, she's going viral for sharing that she doesn't text. And honestly, same. Speaking to Drew Barrymore, the country star said "I don't want to talk to everybody that wants to talk to me. I don't text 'cause I don't want to have to answer." "If somebody calls me, I'll answer it if I want to talk to them or I'll call them back when I can," she continued. "Otherwise, I've got too much on to think about than to clutter my mind up with everything else." She clarified that she's "not a stupid person" and that if she really wanted to text she could "learn". "I'd rather just have my fax machine and [they can] call in creative stuff to my crew. I just don't have time to sit with a phone in my face all day." And she might have a point. Psychotherapist Maggie Mulqueen wrote for NBC that texting, although offering us a higher quantity of interaction, actually decreases the quality of relationships. "Texting breeds not just grammar and spelling illiteracy but, more importantly, emotional illiteracy as well," Mulqueen wrote. So maybe we should all try to be a bit more like Dolly Parton. Taylor Swift fans aren't happy about her recent 'cash grabs'
Taylor Swift fans have expressed their disappointment at the singer branding her a "capitalist queen" following the announcement that her Eras Tour concert film will be available to rent next month. From 13 December - Swift’s 34th birthday - the recording-breaking box office film will be available to rent on Apple TV+, Vudu, Prime Video, Xfinity, Google Play and YouTube. It will also be an extended version of the movie and include three extra songs – “Wildest Dreams”, “The Archer” and “Long Live." "Hi! Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home!" Swift wrote on social media. "Very happy to be able to tell you that the extended version of the film including “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer” and “Long Live” will be available to rent on demand in the US, Canada & additional countries to be announced soon starting on … you guessed it, December 13." To rent the film for 48 hours in the comfort of your own home will cost $19.89 - a 1989 reference and a price some Swifties and other social media users aren't too pleased with. This discussion comes after Swift hit billionaire status last month with a $1.1bn fortune according to Forbes. Though there were fans who were defending Swift and noted the rental prices of other popular movies this year such as Barbie.. It's not the first time Swift has come under fire, as she was previously criticised for her limited edition merchandise drops. During the release of Midnights, the Anti-Hero singer showed fans how they could create a clock if they bought four versions of the vinyl which each had a part of the clock face on the back of the jackets and also included fans needing to purchase of the clock hand separately. These different versions of the album also each had a different bonus track, so fans who wanted each extra song on vinyl would have to buy every version. Her most recent release, 1989 (Taylor's Version) saw the release of four different vinyl versions of the album - each with the same songs but with a different themed colour and cover photo of Swift. The first limited edition drop was the Sunrise Boulevard Yellow where fans were informed it would only be available for a limited time (48 hours) so many rushed to buy it. However, after those two days Swifties were surprised to hear about another limited drop - this time the Aquamarine Green version which again was available just for 48 hours. While the vinyls were $31.89 each, due to the rollout of the drops they couldn't be purchased together meaning they were have to pay separate shipping costs. “Why. So. Many. Version. Of. The. Same. Damn. Album. Taylor. Why. So. Many. Version. Of. The. Same. Damn. Album. Taylor. I cannot deal with the money grabbing feel," one fan asked on the Taylor Swift subreddit. "This is messy! messy dishonest sales tactics! every era it gets worse I swear! I don’t think taylor is directly responsible for this manufactured fomo-based sales strategy, but wow girlie. This is a piece of work," another fan wrote. How to join the indy100's free WhatsApp channel Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Controversial comedian Matt Rife says people are 'jealous' of him like they were with 'Bin Laden'
A clip from earlier this year of controversial comedian Matt Rife on influencer Tana Mongeau's podcast CANCELLED has gone viral after his bizarre response to a question. When appearing on Mongeau's podcast this summer he shared a recent "epiphany" he had. "So many f**king people hate me," he begins by saying. "For really no reason, and it really made me realise that people only hate somebody they're jealous of." He goes onto say, "I've been guilty of hating people, and when I've fully sat back and thought about it was because I was jealous of where that person was in their life. I thought maybe they'd gotten an opportunity that I should have gotten." Mongeau then asked "do you think people were hate Osama bin Laden are jealous of him?" "Yeah," Rife is heard saying, before the clip ends. In the episode Rife actually goes on to joke, "yeah of course! They're mad that he was the one calling the shots." On Twitter/X many called Rife an "idiot" and praised Mongeau's question: Rife recently came under fire for sexist jokes, specifically one about domestic violence from his show Netflix special Natural Selection. In the show tells an anecdote about a restaurant server with a black eye, who his friend claims 'should be in the kitchen' so no one can see her. "I feel like if she could cook, she wouldn't have that black eye", Rife then says. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. In the clip that racked up four million views online, Miles was left starstruck when the Euphoria actress appeared out of nowhere. His video not only caught the attention of fellow TikTokers and the media, but also Sweeney herself who dropped him a message on Instagram reading: "u should've said hi". People were desperate to know what he responded – and he certainly did not disappoint by sharing that he asked her out. His follow-up clips then hilariously joked the pair were now dating. @mileshep #goldcoast #aus #beach #fyp #sydney #sydneysweeney "Obviously, the DMs between myself and Sydney have gone completely viral. So just wanted to come on here and tell the truth of the matter, which is Sydney and I are now seeing each other," he humoured. "And you know, the last few days has been like a movie, some would say it’s like we’re filming our own little rom-com." "For those of you saying she’s engaged, like, I don’t see a ring on. I don’t see a ring there. So we’re working through that – that’s all getting organised behind the scenes," he continued. @mileshep Replying to @rubyxcw pressure moments. Awkward moment Robert De Niro messes up speech attacking Donald Trump
Robert De Niro was left frustrated during the Gotham Awards last night (27 November), when his speech criticising Donald Trump was allegedly edited 'behind his back'. Just keep scrolling", he noted, tripping over his words. "The beginning of my speech was edited, cut out, and I didn’t know about it. And I want to read it." Iggy Azalea and Cardi B top OnlyFans' list of top creators as jaw-dropping earnings released
Iggy Azalea and Cardi B have reportedly become two of OnlyFans' top-earning creators on the platform. The subscription site has transformed many ordinary peoples' lifestyles over the years, with many switching their regular 9-5 for their lucrative side hustle full time. Celebrities have caught wind of OnlyFans' success, and have too, jumped on the bandwagon. For most, it's seemingly paying off with Cardi B raking in $45 million since joining the platform. However, rapper Iggy Azalea took the top spot by making an alleged $48 million in less than a year. The 'Fancy' singer joined OnlyFans back in January. There were later reports that she had made hundreds of thousands of dollars in just 24 hours, which she called numbers "outta thin air". "Lol, Y'all just be saying s*** to say s*** at this point cause that number was pulled outta thin air," she wrote at the time. In another tweet, Azalea also noted that she wouldn't reveal how much money she makes on Only Fans, similar to how she didn't share what made after selling her "music catalog." "Amounts being reported don't come from a valid source. Thanks to everyone supporting me," she added. She also went on to share her most common OnlyFans request during an appearance on Andy Cohen’s talk show Watch What Happens Live. In February, she candidly told the host: "'They'll be like, 'Goddess Iggy. Please, please, please, please. I know that you don't have time for my tiny little thing, but please can you just tell me what you think about it?'" "And then I'll be like, 'Ugh! That's disgusting! Is that even a f**king d**k? You call that a f**king d**k? That's not a d**k. Why are you wasting my time with this? "Send me fifty dollars right now and don't you f**king message me again unless you give me fifty dollars next time'." Steve Irwin's son in nail-biting near-miss with python inches from biting face
Steve Irwin's son, Robert, has shared a nail-biting video clip from the moment he was almost bitten in the face by a huge python. The 19-year-old has proven himself to be as fearless and kind-hearted towards animals as his dad, however, even he appeared shaken by the interaction. Lying down next to the snake on the road, he greets it with a "Hey mate", before it lunges at him, narrowly missing his face. "Man, you see how close that was to my face?! You would have felt that!", he said, before attempting to pick it up. Not for the faint-hearted. Sign up to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter

Ed Sheeran just challenged Lewis Capaldi to a boxing match
Ed Sheeran has challenged fellow singer Lewis Capaldi to a boxing match and it’s fair to say it would be a sight to behold. In recent years, it seems boxing has been inundated with people from the worlds of influencers and content creators, with YouTuber brothers Logan Paul and Jake Paul both taking to the ring to settle feuds. Now, Sheeran has revealed who he would fight if he were to don a pair of padded gloves and now the fans are clamouring for it. The 'Shape of You' singer said Capaldi would be top of his list during an interview with iFL TV in Dublin, ahead of the Taylor vs Cameron 2 fight. Initially, when asked who he would take on if he were to be on a Misfits Boxing card, the pop star said he'd fight his dad. But, when asked who from the music scene he'd like to go head-to-head with, he said Capaldi’s name with no hesitation. Sheeran told the camera: “Capaldi … I’d do it, I’d do it. Lewis, [I’ll] f**king have you, c**t.” Although it may be a hypothetical situation, Sheeran’s family does have a history in the sport as his grandfather was a boxer and was also part of the British Boxing Board of Control. But, it didn’t stop people from being excited about the match-up. “Go on lad,” one person commented. Another predicted: “Capaldi stops him early.” All we can say is, they'd probably have more success in arranging their fight than Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Adriana Chechik is making OnlyFans content again after breaking back
Adriana Chechik has confirmed that she’s back making OnlyFans content again after breaking her back in 2022. The streamer and former adult star said just a few weeks ago that she was still in chronic levels of pain over a year after breaking her back in a foam pit accident. Chechik required surgery on her back after breaking it by diving into a foam pit at the Twitch annual convention, TwitchCon, in October 2022. Now, the 32-year-old has announced that she’s back with livestreams on the adult content site after regaining “feeling” in her body. “It’s happening at 5 pm PST! Unfortunately, my gaming PC broke so now setting up a new one as this house has bad wifi! So looking forward to 5 pm PST!” she wrote on Twitter, announcing that she was live on the site for the first time since breaking her back. She also said that she had been “working hard” to get herself to this point and “regain the feeling inside [her] body.” It comes just a few weeks after she spoke about her struggles with recovery. The Daily Star reports that she explained in an X/Twitter post: “This year, I’ve learned so much about my own strength and will to achieve my goals. I started doing 5 to 6-day-a-week workouts at 7 AM for the past two months. “I’ve been doing physical therapy seven days a week for close to a year now. I cannot explain how hard it is to motivate yourself every morning when you’re suffering with chronic pain.” In recent years, Chechik has transitioned away from being an adult performer in favour of live-streaming gaming content and posting on her OnlyFans account. Joe Lycett confirms Turdcast podcast is fake as he calls on water companies to take 'poo promise'
Fans already had their suspicions after Joe Lycett mysteriously cancelled plans for his new podcast, named Turdcast, on Friday, and now the Birmingham funnyman has confirmed that the planned audio series - and reports of a sewage “spillage” – was part of a much wider stunt calling on water companies to do more to address the sewage scandal. Last week, Lycett announced he was launching the “ploppy poddy” in which guests talk about their “toilet habits”, and even told indy100 that he’d love to have author Dr Giulia Enders on the podcast, implying it was actually a real project from the Got Your Back star. His first guest was supposedly Gary Lineker. There was even a launch event scheduled for Thursday – a day before the supposed release of the first episode - at Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock, in which Lycett attempted to erect a giant inflatable toilet known as ‘The Turdis’ and interview the general public about their toilet stories. However, the publicity stunt had to be cancelled early “due to a technical issue” with the inflatable object, and windy conditions didn’t help with its inflation, either. A spokesperson released a statement which claimed that “a mechanical fault occurred with a portable toilet which saw a small spillage occur”. “This was immediately dealt with by the support team on hand to ensure there was no impact on the water into which the spillage occurred. “However, the event was cancelled with immediate effect as it was not possible for members of the public to use the toilet as planned. We apologise to disappointed fans hoping to attend,” they said. Lycett himself later put out his own statement on social media on Friday morning, in which he revealed the dramatic decision to “cancel the podcast indefinitely”, as it would be “inappropriate” to launch Turdcast off the back of the “ongoing investigation into the sewage spilled into the waters”. “I’d like to reiterate that it was entirely safe and managed by the team very swiftly. I’ll be releasing more information in due course,” he added. Well, that came on Saturday, when Lycett shared a video statement from “Miss Sue Idge” confirming that “of course” he didn’t spill raw sewage” and that it was instead another stunt to “get people talking about the big issues”. He continued: “I’m not spilling s*** in public everywhere. Who do you think I am, GB News? “No, it was fake sewage, from a fake toilet, to promote a fake podcast. Turdcast was never real, although we did record a real one with the real Gary Lineker. “It would have been better to use a fake Gary Lineker because we would have saved a lot of money on his day rate.” Lycett explained that his fake sewage was to get people talking about the “real sewage” being spilled by water companies every year, and that an hour-long special on water companies will air on Channel 4 next year. “Last year, according to one analysis, £1.4 billion in dividends was paid out to shareholders of the water companies – that’s a lot of money that could be used to improve the sewage network and reduce spills. “So I want the water companies to stop paying dividends, and invest that money in improving and solving this problem,” he said. He then called on viewers and fans to go to a website and email their water company, calling on them to sign up to “Joe’s Poo Promise” – lovely alliteration. Lycett has since been branded a “genius” and “national treasure” over the campaign: And it’s not the first dramatic stunt which Lycett has pulled off, as he pretended to shred £10,000 in protest at David Beckham being an ambassador for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and created an elaborate four-year stunt which “infuriated” MPs and formed the basis of his most recent stand-up show, More, More, More! Did Harry Styles shave his head for a role in The White Lotus?
Harry Styles shocked fans when he ditched his signature locks and shaved his head - but now rumours are flying that there is particular reason the popstar is sporting the buzzcut look. Upon photos of Styles at a U2 gig in Las Vegas looking rather different getting shared, the internet reacted with memes, a Taylor Swift conspiracy theory, and at one point the pop star's mum intervened questioning what all the fuss was about. The latest rumour that has garnered attention is the theory that Styles shaved his head because he's going to star in season three of The White Lotus. Jennifer Coolidge, Aubrey Plaza, Theo James, and Sydney Sweeney are just some of the A-list actors who have starred in the show, the first season aired in 2021, followed by season two in 2022. It has been confirmed the Emmy Award-winning series will return for a third season, but it may not be released until 2025 due to strikes, HBO and Max chairman/CEO Casey Bloys said, as per Variety. While the show's creator Mike White has said he hopes to start filming “at the beginning of the year.” Some of the new characters written for the upcoming series include "a patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit and a yogi," according to Deadline, we also already know the season will focus on exploring “death in Eastern religion and spirituality," as White confirmed last year. These details have led Styles fans to believe that the singer and actor shaved his head in preparation to play one of these roles. Plus, this rumour was further fuelled when anonymous celebrity gossip account DeuxMoi claimed that an "A-list singer" was "circling a part" - with the singer tipped to play the reported "yogi". Australian radio star Leon Sjogren also speculated this theory that we'll see Styles in the new season. This wouldn't be the first acting role for Styles, as he has previously starred in Dunkirk (2017), Don't Worry Darling (2022), and My Policeman (2022) as well as a post-credits sequence in the Marvel film Eternals (2021). It's been quite the year for the As It Was singer too, after he won Album of the Year for Harry's House at the Grammy Awards, and completed his last leg of Love on Tour - so as he's not touring fans noted how he has some free time on his hands to pursue a role like the one that is rumoured. However, Styles has since responded to the rumours that he'll be joining the new season of The White Lotus, as HuffPost UK reported that his team confirmed that Styles won't be starring in the show. While fans will be disappointed, they'll no doubt be watching in anticipation to see what Styles does next. Anyone who has been on Twitter/X this week will perhaps have noticed that Cilla Black has been trending on the platform as people remember her funniest moments. The late singer and TV presenter entertained audiences with a career spanning over five decades, with sixties hits such as "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and "You're My World" before hosting her own BBC variety show, Cilla from 1968 to 1976. She continued to be a permanent fixture on our screens as the host of Blind Date (1985-2003) Surprise Surprise (1984-2001), and The Moment of Truth (1998-2001) The year 2013 marked a significant milestone for Cilla, having worked 50 years in the entertainment industry. Tributes poured in for the Liverpudlian and at her funeral including from fellow singer-turned-TV presenter and close friend Paul O’Grady (who later passed away earlier this year). "If I had to sum Cilla up in one word it would be ‘laughter’. Because that’s all we did. We got up to a lot of trouble but we laughed while we were doing it," he said.
